Another day, another Yellowstone tourist being introduced to the wonders of nature the hard way.
If connection to the natural world is your goal, you can’t get much better than Yellowstone National Park. The scenic views and close encounters with God’s creatures are enough to make you forget you even have a smartphone in your pocket.
Unfortunately, nature is not exclusively rainbows and butterflies, as one tourist found out. An “agitated” bison bull was having a bad day and decided to take it out on a grandfather who was walking by with his grandson.
Watch:
A tourist was seriously injured Friday evening after being thrown 8 feet into the air by a bull bison in Yellowstone National Park. Professional photographer Mike Macleod filmed the incident and said the bison was “angry, agitated and charging anything and everything.” (No audio) pic.twitter.com/ELmHQjvxFj

“He was sitting in the dust, like bison do, with his head out towards the road,” said professional photographer Mike McLeod. “When the bison started to get up, the grandfather’s like, ‘OK, time to leave,’ and they moved off behind these trees.”
But just when it looked like the large animal might calm down, a white truck driving by enraged him again.
“The bison was charging the truck. The guy in the truck saw that happening, and he just kept going. The bison (then went) to where these two were hiding in the trees,” McLeod explained.
After the beast hooked the older gentleman and sent him skyward, observers began to step in.
“I had to get the bison’s attention. I was really afraid he was going to gore the guy on the ground, so I stopped videotaping and ran at the bison, yelled loud, and was trying to be as big and intimidating as possible,” McLeod said, adding that after more people got involved, the bison decided to leave the area in a dramatic huff.

So sad, hope he comes out ok. Its odd that he was further away from the bison, initially then the guy filming the event.
It looks like it went after the white truck and when that took off the poor guy was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.— Just Another Joe (@JBRoth61) July 12, 2026
That bison really said, “You know what? Fuck this guy in particular.”

Sad but that’s why you are warned to not be in vicinity of animals.
