Voter records his experience at poll to show how easy it is to lie: ‘I take your word for it — it’s California’

Concerns over election integrity made for an awkward exchange in one blue state as a viral video featured a poll worker’s response to a question of identity.

“I take your word for it — it’s California.”

While Democratic Party politicians enjoyed touting the line that the 2020 election was the “freest and fairest” on record, they routinely appeared averse to efforts that would shore up the system further. In fact, in the Golden State, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) enacted a law weeks earlier that banned voter ID at polling sites, leading one activist to expose the readily apparent issue.

In a video posted to X that garnered more than 13 million views since Sunday afternoon, Jordan Henry featured his experience going to vote where he himself called out how there was no way poll workers could be certain he was who he claimed to be.

“California is the most corrupt voting system in the US. When I voted in Glendale CA today, I refused to confirm my information was accurate, but the polling officials still had to trust me and issue a ballot,” he captioned the video. “I asked the polling official to check my ID, and she simply said, ‘I take your word for it — it’s California.’ This state is an absolute joke!! Voter ID is obviously necessary to ensure safe, secure, and verifiable elections. Never vote Dem again — MAGA!”

Drawing the attention of SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, the tech entrepreneur and ardent supporter of the Constitution sounded off, “Yeah, it’s totally insane. The only reason to ban ID is to make voting fraud untraceable. Obviously.”

Within the video, Henry approached a poll worker and provided the limited information to obtain a ballot which included the first three letters of his first and last name, his address, and confirmation of the year of his birth.

To the latter, he said, “It’s 1985. I’m just saying it might not be. You can’t verify it,” he said as a supervisor looked flummoxed. “But, I’m just telling you it is.”

When she noted that he would be signing an oath, Henry mentioned that she “could just verify” his ID, to which she replied, “I take your word for it — it’s California.”

While many shared in Musk’s reaction to the video, a point the billionaire’s mother had called out weeks earlier when she’d snarked about taking “10 fake names… to 10 polling booths,” to “vote 10 times” as a way to “work the system too,” others tried to suggest that Henry had somehow disproven any concern about voter fraud.

One user argued, “I like how you proved the system worked. Since you voted someone can’t vote for you. If that happens the system automatically red flags it and starts a investigation [sic]. If massive fraud as you claim is happening then we would see more of these red flags.”

To that, Henry replied, “Easy to pick names of registered voters who never vote and pose as they [sic], with a mask on. Super easy.”
