VP pick Walz pushed for sanctuary city, lavished illegal migrants with taxpayer-funded benefits

As governor of Minnesota, vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz has been a huge proponent of illegal migration.

As recently as 2018, he told CBS News that he wanted Minnesota to be a veritable sanctuary state for criminal aliens.

“All Minnesotans are safer when the limited resources of local law enforcement are focused on local crimes and when everyone feels safe to cooperate fully with the police,” he said at the time.

“For example, if your neighbor witnesses someone breaking into your home, you are safer when your neighbor knows their immigration status is not at risk if they call the police,” he added.

Sanctuary states/cities are notorious for preventing local police officers from questioning suspects about their immigration status.

As governor, Walz also signed off on legislation allowing everybody to obtain a driver’s license, including even criminal aliens:

Worse, he signed legislation granting taxpayer-funded healthcare benefits to criminal aliens.

He specifically “expanded MinnesotaCare, a state-funded low-income health insurance marketplace, to cover the care of illegal immigrants,” according to the Washington Free Beacon.

He did so at a cost of $59 million per year.

Furthermore, last year Walz signed into law the Minnesota Dream Act, which allows criminal aliens to receive in-state tuition and financial aid at colleges in the Minnesota State and University of Minnesota system.

And before Walz left Congress, he lobbied for the similar Dream Act to  be passed on the national stage:

Speaking with Fox News about these initiatives, Minneapolis GOP Chair Shawn Holster slammed Walz for making lives harder for actual citizens.

“It’s driving up the cost of every single public service, and there is no way our tax dollars can cover this strain and overage on the system,” Holster said. “It’s impacting every aspect of life in Minneapolis and Minnesota at large.”

He added that as a result of Walz’s pro-criminal alien policies, property taxes for actual citizens have spiked by 30 percent every year.

“This is to accommodate these social services [for the criminal aliens],” he told Fox News. “I like to call it ‘managed decline wrapped in a blanket of benevolence.’ It’s a destabilization of every aspect of life in Minnesota.”

Fox News noted that according to a WalletHub survey, “Minnesota has the eighth-highest combined property, income, and sales tax burden in the country.”

The state’s abundant social services have made it a top destination for new criminal aliens.

“We are one of the locations where people are transported to when they are processed at the border down in Texas or Arizona,” Holster said. “Minnesota is a destination because of the abundance of social services immediately available to illegal immigrants.”

Walz’s support for illegal migration has also been called out by House Speaker Mike Johnson, as well as Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

“The most liberal nominee to ever appear on a presidential ballot has now chosen a progressive running mate who has voiced support for socialism, supports sanctuary cities and wants to give driver’s licenses to the millions of illegal aliens Kamala Harris has allowed into our country,” Johnson said recently.

Abbott meanwhile has been lodging criticisms from Twitter/X:

Included in these criticisms is a lengthy statement blasting Walz and Vice President Kamala Harris as the most dangerous ticket in American history.

“Tim Walz will be a rubberstamp for Kamala Harris’ deadly open border policies, refusing to admit there is a border crisis, opposing border wall funding, and supporting sanctuary cities,” the statement reads.
