WaPo columnist calls for Kamala to ‘step aside’ and veep’s fans are not pleased

President Joe Biden’s chances of winning the election are plunging by the day and one Washington Post columnist has now suggested that it’s time for Democrats to divest themselves of one of his greatest mistakes.

In what could be a trial balloon, Kathleen Parker has called for Vice President Kamala Harris to “step aside” in what would be an admission of her unfitness for the job of being a heartbeat away from the most powerful office on the planet, a catastrophe from the moment that Biden tabbed the loopy Californian as his running mate as a sop to the party’s devoutly loyal black base.

Harris has done nothing to show her actual merits outside of being able to check off two very important identity boxes, and Parker is calling for an end to the charade in her column titled, “For the country’s sake, Vice President Harris should step aside.”

In her scathing column which is remarkable for its frankness, Parker writes, “The Kamala conundrum comes down to this: She was picked because she was black and female, a combo tantamount to job security.”

“Now that she has become a burden to the Democratic ticket, Biden can’t fire her. He can’t risk alienating his base. Full stop,” she added.  “The seriousness of this situation can’t be overstated. Biden’s diminishing faculties, notwithstanding his relatively successful State of the Union address, and his increasing physical frailty are concerning.”

The column seems to suggest that the old warhorse may be a lot closer to the glue factory than would ever be admitted, with the idea that a sudden ascension of the cackling dunce to the top job would be an extinction-level event for the Democratic party, if not the nation itself.

“Whatever the reasons, it has seemed that Harris’s role was to be quiet, lest she embarrass her boss with her sometimes inane, rambling remarks and a laugh that erupts from nowhere about nothing obvious to others,” Parker states. “I do, however, relish the thought of her face-to-face with Vladimir Putin and suddenly cackling at a linchpin moment during nuclear arms discussions.”

“Her performance as second in command has been disappointing, to say the least,” wrote the author, who cited her dismal poll numbers which are even lower than Bidens, adding, “There’s no reason to think her ranking would spike were she suddenly promoted to the Oval Office. Instead, most signs point to disaster. This is why I propose with all due respect that Harris step away from the ticket.”

For what she lacks in intellectual firepower and actual gravitas, the veep does have an impressively rabid following and they blew their stacks over the WaPo column.

The idea that Parker would go rogue and whack the hornet’s nest with such an explosive suggestion seems unlikely and it isn’t exactly clear who – or how many – influential Democrats would be down with flushing Harris before Biden croaks in office or is forced to step down for health reasons, then they’ll be stuck with her.
