WaPo slapped with brutal fact check over wild ballot claim

The Washington Post earned a public rebuke for making an outrageous claim that simply isn’t true according to X’s truth-seeking “community notes.”

In a story targeting states that have ballot initiatives to protect girl athletes from having to unfairly compete against biological males, WaPo added, “Washington state could require genital exams for girls in school athletics.”

According to X’s fact-checking equalizer, WaPo’s claim is patently untrue.

“The Washington ballot initiative requires a healthcare provider’s verification of biological sex for girls’ school sports based on reproductive anatomy, genetic makeup or testosterone levels as part of routine physicals; it does not mandate genital exams,” the correction noted.

Ouch.

The post was published on Tuesday and is still up on X with no further correction or clarification from the media outlet.
