Washington State public defender caught occupying university building with Antifa extremists

Antifa violence at a West Coast campus reportedly included a county public defender among the dozens arrested while peddling Hamas sympathies.

Campus craziness may have considerably toned down under President Donald Trump — who, unlike former President Joe Biden, held the taxpayer-funded schools accountable — but it hasn’t been totally eliminated. During one of the latest displays of antisemitism, rife with vandalism and arson, roughly 30 protesters attempted to occupy a University of Washington building, along with one man said to work for the King County Department of Public Defense.

Following the arrests in a joint operation by Seattle Police, University of Washington Police, and the Washington State Patrol, law enforcement officials released the names of those taken into custody, which included one Sam Sueoka.

The Post Millennial’s West Coast Editor Ari Hoffman reported on X that Sueoka had “most recently defended activist Aidan Carroll for alleged obstruction of a police officer,” among other activist work before sharing a statement from the King County Public Defenders that read, “DPD does not have any comment on this matter.”

Sueoka’s record also includes an internship with the American Civil Liberties Union and, according to a February report from the Associated Press, he was the catalyst behind an Office of Public Accountability investigation seeking to dox the identities of Seattle Police officers who were in attendance when the U.S. Capitol was breached on Jan. 6, 2021.

While still a law student, he filed a Public Records Act request while the officers argued revealing their names would constitute a violation of their privacy, a position the Washington State Supreme Court ruled against.

Monday’s occupation was reportedly over the school’s connection to Boeing, which has defense contracts with the military used to support the Israel Defense Forces. Protesters on the scene were heard shouting, “Death to the police! Abolish the police!” and “Every cop death is a victory for the resistance.”

Among those arrested as fires were lit and entrances were blocked, Hoffman highlighted a registered nurse at the University of Washington Harborview Medical Center whose social media in the wake of the terror attack on Israel included a post shaming the hospital for not sharing “full support of the Palestinian people.”

“They are all either supporting Israel’s genocide or ‘not taking sides’. This is not a war with sides,” argued the nurse. “It is a genocide. Which side of history are you on?”

It appears that UW President Ana Marie Cauce was on the side that was fed up with mask-wearing agitators, as she said in a statement, “This was no peaceful protest in support of Palestinian rights or against the war in Gaza. I condemn this dangerous, violent, and illegal building occupation and related vandalism. I also condemn in the strongest terms the group’s statement celebrating the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians.”

Charges brought against those arrested included “trespassing, property destruction and disorderly conduct, and conspiracy to commit all three,” with referrals to both King County’s Prosecutor’s Office and the Student Conduct Office.”
