Watch the shocking moment a semi-truck flies off Dallas overpass and bursts into flames

Shocking video captured the moment a semi-truck flew off a Texas overpass and erupted in flames, killing the 71-year-old driver.

The dashcam from a nearby car caught the horrifying scene as the 18-wheeler crashed over the U.S. 75 overpass rail and plunged to the road below in Allen, Texas, on Tuesday, sending letters and packages spilling out onto the pavement.

The driver, Gustavo Gomez, was killed in the fiery crash which was reportedly caused when the truck collided with another vehicle, according to WFAA.

“Letters and packages spilled out onto the roadway after the crash. Some had USPS markings on them. A USPS employee could be seen at the scene taking pictures and making phone calls,” the outlet reported. “USPS on Wednesday confirmed that Gomez was not a USPS employee.”

The other involved driver was reportedly not injured in the incident and was seen cooperating with authorities, according to WFAA.

Gomez, a father of five, was called a “great driver” by his wife who said he had been driving semi-trucks for nearly 21 years.

“He’s gone, there’s no coming back from that,” said the grieving wife, Helen Torres, according to Daily Mail.

“We’re broken right now,” she said. “We’re lost. He was supposed to come home.”

“I don’t believe my husband was at fault at all because my husband was very careful, he knew what he was driving. He knew that was a big machine,” she added.

In a statement, USPS said: “The accident that occurred involved a contractor who transports mail for the Postal Service. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.”

Local police also issued a statement, saying: “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the victim’s family and friends as they deal with their loss.”
