Former White House Counsel John Dean strongly encouraged the aide to former President Donald J. Trump who was indicted along with him on charges relating to the mishandling of classified material, to rat on his boss, something that the Watergate figure has much experience with.
Dean, who has been celebrated by the left for decades for his role in taking down President Richard M. Nixon, appeared on CNN on Monday where he urged Walt Nauta, a 40-year Navy veteran to flip on Trump and help the Biden regime’s Special Counsel Jack Smith in getting a conviction against the 2024 GOP frontrunner.
With CNN providing blanket coverage on the indictment and the former president’s Tuesday arraignment in a federal court in Miami, anchor Jake Tapper welcomed the 84-year-old Dean who used his appearance to send a not thinly-veiled message to Nauta that he should flip on Trump.

“What’s the play for him?” Tapper asked Nauta. “If he’s watching CNN right now — unlikely — but if he’s watching CNN, what would you tell him to do? Should he seek a plea deal, or should he get a joint defense with Donald Trump?”
“I’d suggest he do a plea deal,” Dean responded. “He’s facing 20 years — it’s overwhelming evidence and looks like beyond a reasonable doubt almost off of the material that is raised in the indictment — and I don’t know how he can win this.”
“So, he could strike a good deal and help put it away for the government,” the Watergate squealer added. “I don’t know why he got himself involved this way. As a Navy man, he must have had some sensitivity to highly classified material, but yet, he certainly did the president’s wishes, according to the allegations in the indictment.”
Trump praised Nauta after the news broke that he too had been sucked into the Biden regime’s banana republic judicial meatgrinder.
“I have just learned that the “Thugs” from the Department of Injustice will be Indicting a wonderful man, Walt Nauta, a member of the U.S. Navy, who served proudly with me in the White House, retired as Senior Chief, and then transitioned into private life as a personal aide. He has done a fantastic job! They are trying to destroy his life, like the lives of so many others, hoping that he will say bad things about “Trump.” He is strong, brave, and a Great Patriot. The FBI and DOJ are CORRUPT!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Like fellow Watergate fossils Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, Dean has been a fixture on cable news during the entirety of the corrupt establishment’s operation to take down Trump, with constant comparisons to the nearly 50-year-old scandal that chased Nixon from the White House less than two years after he was reelected by voters in what was at the time, the greatest electoral margin in the nation’s history.
Fired by Nixon, the former White House lawyer squealed like a rat and the rest is history.
