The government reportedly sent in electric chainsaws to help a community without power handle the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, and even the Cajun Navy is weighing in.
Social media couldn’t help but point out all the things wrong with the “aid,” reminding others that you can’t rely on the government in times of emergency.
“The government shipped up 3 pallets of electric chainsaws to us in a community without power,” wrote X user “Masters.” It was quickly retweeted by the United Cajun Navy, which has stepped up to help those impacted by both Hurricane Milton and Hurricane Helene.
“In case anybody was wondering why we exist, we couldn’t possibly articulate it better than…this…” they said.

Social media bashed the government’s “help” and praised the people who are actually on the ground assisting those affected by these natural disasters:
We sent a 5,000 gallon gas truck to Burnsville, they sent a Blackhawk. We are not the same.

This is why gov is not the way forward in emergency disaster relief. They put ideology ahead of common sense. Sending hand saws would have made more sense than this nonsense. Never let people who have never done anything outside make decisions on what tools are needed to…

I first heard about y’all during Harvey. Before local government even realized the magnitude of the disaster, let alone knew what to do….you’d already begun work.
