‘We will FIGHT IT!’ Schumer vows Dems will stop troops and allow Antifa terrorists in Portland

A recent terrorist organization designation isn’t keeping Democrats from standing to defend their militant base, as Sen. Chuck Schumer vowed in response to action in Portland, “… we will fight it …”

Once again, leftists have planted their flag on an indefensible hill, seeking not only to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens but also to put their backing behind the violent protests of Antifa against immigration enforcement. This includes a new lawsuit aimed at neutering the federal government’s response, garnering the full endorsement of Senate Minority Leader Schumer (D-NY).

“First, we will fight it in the courts along with, you know, people who will file suits,” he told NBC News’ Kristen Welker Sunday on “Meet the Press” in a response to President Donald Trump ordering troops to be sent into Portland, Oregon.

He added concerning his Republican colleagues in the Senate, “… this is so far stepping over the line that I hope some of them would join us in legislation to prevent it from happening. We have such a proposal; I’m part of it.”

Schumer’s statement came as Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield (D) filed a complaint in District Court on Sunday seeking to block the federalization of 200 Oregon National Guard troops and their deployment for a 60-day period as ordered by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth in line with the president’s urging.

“Our nation’s founders recognized that military rule–particularly by a remote authority indifferent to local needs–was incompatible with liberty and democracy,” the court filing stated. “Foundational principles of American law, therefore, limit the president’s authority to involve the military in domestic affairs.”

Within two weeks of declaring Antifa a terrorist organization, the president called for federal action to restore order to the “war-ravaged” city. At the same time, the Department of Homeland Security detailed that in recent months, “dozens of Antifa-aligned left-wing violent extremists who have attacked law enforcement, murdered innocent civilians, and launched a wave of violent riots throughout the United States,” had been arrested.

Despite that reality, Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek (D) contended repeatedly, including during a Saturday press conference, “There is no insurrection. There is no threat to national security, and there is no need for military troops in our major city. Military service members should be dedicated to real emergencies. The members of the Oregon National Guard, their mission is to stand up and protect Oregonians, and they will do that every day. But they are not needed in this city. They are not needed here.”

“Let’s not take the bait. Let’s not respond to what the president is trying to do,” she argued as Portland Mayor Keith Wilson (D) claimed, “President Trump has directed ‘all necessary Troops’ to Portland, Oregon. The number of necessary troops is zero in Portland and any other American city. Our nation has a long memory for acts of oppression, and the president will not find lawlessness or violence here unless he plans to perpetrate it.”

Meanwhile, as Kotek was joined by others for a march through the streets to make her case that the city was safe, social media users endeavored to disprove her with numerous images of the violence being perpetrated against law enforcement and others, now and in the months leading up to a federal response.
