Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., was spotted dining with a man who appears to be her longtime boyfriend in Miami Beach on Thursday, the trip to Florida coming the same day New York City reported a record number of COVID-19 cases. In addition, according to city officials, a record number of first responders are out sick, with more than 20% of the city’s police officers and 30% of paramedics calling out on Thursday.

In an exclusive story, the National Review released photos it had obtained showing Ocasio-Cortez and her partner seated outside the hip Japanese restaurant Doraku Sushi and Izakaya. In one of the photos, AOC is raising a cocktail while flashing a smile. The irony being that while she’s a staunch supporter of mask and vaccine mandates, Ocasio-Cortez traveled to the free state of Florida, where under the leadership of Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, there are no such mandates. The logic of DeSantis’ stance bears itself out in the fact that New York is currently seeing a massive surge despite mandates galore.

DeSantis’ office took to Twitter via its official account to welcome the de facto leader of the group of radical left Democrats known as “the squad” to the Sunshine State, and even offered her some dining tips.

“Welcome to Florida, AOC! We hope you’re enjoying a taste of freedom here in the Sunshine State thanks to @RonDeSantisFL’s leadership,” a tweet stated, followed by, “We recommend the Rock Shrimp Roll and the Aoki Tai the next time you decide to dine in Miami. Cheers!”

DeSantis’ press secretary Christina Pushaw was quick to highlight the former Bronx bartender and current socialist’s unexpected visit, sharing the photo online.

“Florida is so dangerous & scary that AOC decided to go on vacation in Miami this week,” Pushaw said in another tweet. “You know it’s a free state when even a Democrat can enjoy cocktails without being forced to show her papers or wear a mask.”

AOC’s visit could not have been more timely, as the national media is currently engaged in yet another campaign to smear DeSantis amid a record COVID-19 surge in the state, reacting to a false claim by Democrats in the state that DeSantis was missing in action in the face of the COVID-19 surge — the great irony here is that while they report this, President Biden is frolicking on a beach in Delaware. All the while, this cabal is largely ignoring the surge in New York.

To hear the media tell it, Florida is a “zombie death land,” as conservative commentator Stephen L. Miller sarcastically characterized the overkill, yet there is Ocasio-Cortez enjoying herself without a care in the world.

Pushaw, who can give just as good as she gets, was equally quick to capitalize on the AOC windfall to call attention to the corporate media fabricating the “conspiracy theory” that DeSantis was on vacation — a father of three small children whose wife is battling breast cancer, DeSantis took “a few days off at Christmas,” as Pushaw noted. She also opined on the concerted campaign targeting the popular Republican governor in another tweet, which included a hashtag that was trending: “This is why Blue Anon came up with #WheresRon today.”

Of course, the real question may be why is AOC in Miami? Fox News contributor Katie Pavlich offered this take: “Which celebrity studded New Year’s Eve Party is she going to?”

One this is certain, Ocasio-Cortez has become a walking, breathing caricature of herself amid all the hypocrisy she embodies, and mocking her is as easy as picking low-hanging fruit.
