Whataburger workers beat ‘abusive’ customer with trash can and fry basket in crazy video

Move over, Waffle House, one Whataburger employee is going viral for fighting off a customer in Paris, Texas.

It all started when 41-year-old Anthony William Newhuis was asked to leave the chain after reportedly verbally abusing the Whataburger staff. Police were called and Newhuis left, threatening to return to the store once the authorities had cleared out.

And that’s exactly what he did, reportedly punching the manager multiple times, according to a press release from the Paris Police Department. The manager quickly recovered and video captures what happened next.

In the clip, the manager can be seen wailing on the suspect with a trash can in an attempt to subdue him. According to Billy Jones, the man credited with recording the incredible video, the manager also utilized a wire fry basket in his defense of himself and the staff, which is likely what caused the head injury later noted by police.

Newhuis was forced out of the store, where he was later apprehended by the police, bloody and drunk, in the Whataburger’s parking lot.

“At Whataburger, Guest and employee security are a top priority. We take incidents such as this seriously and are fully cooperating with authorities,” a spokesperson said in a statement to WFAA.
