The House impeachment inquiry set its sights on Langley as a new whistleblower claim alleged CIA influence in guarding Hunter Biden’s “sugar brother” from the IRS’ hot seat.
Ahead of the 2020 presidential election, the American people witnessed 51 “intelligence experts” lay cover for then-former Vice President Joe Biden after his son’s infamous laptop made headline news. Now, the GOP committees investigating the need to impeach President Joe Biden are probing whether the CIA may have been involved in preventing witness testimony from the first son’s high-powered Hollywood attorney, Kevin Morris.
Known for having seven-figure generosity on behalf of the younger Biden, Morris was supposed to be questioned by IRS investigators in Aug. 2021. Working from a whistleblower allegation, House Judiciary Committee chair Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan (R) and House Oversight and Accountability chair James Comer (R) sought answers Thursday from CIA Director William Burns as to whether his agency stepped in to block the attorney from being a witness.
“Recently, the Committees received information from a whistleblower alleging that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) intervened in the investigation of Hunter Biden to prevent the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) investigators from interviewing a witness. We therefore write to request relevant material from the CIA,” the letter from the chairmen read.

“According to the whistleblower, in August 2021, when IRS investigators were preparing to interview Patrick Kevin Morris, an associate of Hunter Biden, the CIA intervened to stop the interview,” it continued. “Two DOJ officials were allegedly summoned to CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia for a briefing regarding Mr. Morris. At that meeting, it was communicated that Mr. Morris could not be a witness during the investigation.”
The letter listed the potential stonewalling as in line with “how the DOJ deviated from its standard processes to afford preferential treatment to Hunter Biden,” as Justice Department officials were said to have restricted investigative steps as told by whistleblowers from the IRS team, Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler.
“It is unknown why or on what basis the CIA allegedly intervened to prevent investigators from interviewing Mr. Morris,” the letter stated. “However, these allegations track with other evidence showing how the DOJ deviated from its standard investigative practices during the investigation of Hunter Biden.”
Morris had admitted during testimony in January of this year that he had coughed up around $5 million to cover the younger Biden’s lax liability and later clarified an additional $1.6 million had been afforded to his fast friend as part of a loan. The attorney had also confirmed that he maintained the 10% stake in Bohai Harvest RST LLC (BHR) that he had procured from Skaneateles LLC, the equity firm Hunter Biden previously owned.
“I did the transaction because, you know,” Morris had claimed, “I evaluated it as a businessman, and I thought it was something that could be a very successful investment. I — you know, but I did diligence on the assets. I knew what — I knew what Hunter paid for it in the beginning, and I saw, and I still see upside.”
The committees set a deadline of April 4 for the CIA director to respond with all documents and communications that referred or related to Morris as well as those connected to the DOJ and the IRS investigation of Hunter Biden.
