Whistleblower who exposed Howard Lutnick’s Epstein ties dies

A whistleblower who exposed ties between Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Jeffrey Epstein has died.

The death of British banker Simon Andriesz was announced on Friday by Transparency Task Force founder Andy Agathangelou, according to a statement obtained by The Telegraph.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Simon Andriesz, a valued member of our community, passed away last week,” he said.

A BBC article from July 2026 details how Andriesz, who previously worked under Lutnick, came upon the information linking the commerce secretary to Epstein.

“Andriesz shared his findings – from the millions of released Epstein files – with US politicians on the influential House Oversight Committee, ahead of an appearance there by Lutnick in May,” the outlet reported. “Lutnick told the committee that, to the best of his knowledge, he had only learned this year that Epstein had been an investor in the firm. Speaking on his behalf, the US Commerce Department told us there was no evidence of wrongdoing.”

“Andriesz also discovered in the files that one of Lutnick’s firms had made plans in 2013 to go into business with another figure linked to Epstein, the then-Prince Andrew, by commercially exploiting the contacts the former UK trade envoy had made,” the piece continued.

The banker also noted that he spoke to the FBI in 2020-21 following Epstein’s death, but there appears to have been no investigation into Lutnick’s “undeclared business ties.”

“I’m exposing Howard Lutnick’s relationship, financial links, with Jeffrey Epstein, and there’s no interest,” he told BBC.

In late 2025, Lutnick downplayed any connection he had to Epstein on a podcast, saying he had only met the man once, about two decades ago. He also described finding Epstein’s behavior “gross.”

X had a lot to say about this:
