‘White saviors’ and their noisy whistles at center of anti-ICE internal rift

The anti-ICE movement is currently at war with itself over, what else, race issues.

Just because the left has found a new anti-Trump cause to unite over doesn’t mean that they’ve dropped the identity politics that got them here. This has resulted in a lot of mockery from conservatives who have noticed a significant presence of white liberal women on the front lines, blowing their whistles to protect targets of ICE operations, regardless of the crimes they may have committed.

But no good deed goes unpunished, as they say, and the AWFLs are getting a taste of their own medicine as organizations across the country are ordering their white allies to stand down.

According to Signal messages reviewed by Fox News Digital, “a new internal feud has erupted inside the anti-ICE protest industry, pitting immigrant-led organizations against predominately White ‘rapid response’ networks that have made whistle-blowing a dramatic part of anti-ICE protests.”

The problem? Too much “white savior” complex is overtaking the organizations, and literal whistleblowing is creating “panic.” Fox reports that the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network, known as “WAISN” posted a public message about why their group has abandoned the noise that has become a trademark of anti-ICE protests.

“WHY WAISN RAPID RESPONSE DOES NOT USE WHISTLES. We show up with care and accountability, not noise or panic,” they wrote in their post. “It is not about being the loudest, the bravest, or the most visible person on the scene or confronting immigration agents. It is a commitment to non-violence, discipline and harm reduction, centering the well-being of the most vulnerable immigrant and refugee communities in Washington.”

But not everyone seems to be on board with this. Messages from a Seattle-area “rapid response” group called “WA Whistles” indicate a rejection of WAISN’s message.

“We believe in whistles, people want whistles. Nothing change [sic] no matter what WAISN says.”

“The dispute escalated when Snohomish County Indivisible in Washington state told followers this week it would follow the guidance and ‘pause distribution of whistle kits.’ The local group is a chapter of the powerful national nonprofit, Indivisible, which has received $7.26 million from 2018 through 2023 from billionaire George Soros’s Open Society Foundations, which is aligned with the Democratic Party,” the outlet reported.

Indivisible made the point very clear in a post warning white allies to not adopt the “savior” mentality.

“The use of whistles is complex, and we recognize this decision may be disappointing. It is essential that we avoid falling into a ‘White Savior’ dynamic, centering ourselves as rescuers, acting on communities rather than with them, or prioritizing feeling helpful over building real, shared power.”

In a statement to Fox News Digital, WA Whistles clarified that it “respects” the decision “not to use whistles in their rapid response.”

“Individual comments made in our chats do not reflect WA Whistles as a whole. We respect everyone’s first amendment right to express themselves,” the organization stated.
