Whoopi Goldberg backs Don Lemon in smear against older women; Nikki Haley responds

Suddenly, age matters in U.S. politics. With a feeble 80-year-old President Joe Biden at the helm, the entry of a female candidate into the 2024 White House derby has everyone talking about her age.

Republican 2024 presidential candidate Nikki Haley, who’s just 51, is the first GOP politician to step into the arena with Donald Trump in the quest to make President Joe Biden a one-term wonder. And while few comment on Trump’s age — he’s 76 — Haley’s age is all the rage, it seems.

First, CNN host Don Lemon made this audacious statement, “Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime, sorry. A woman is considered to be in their prime in 20s and 30s and maybe 40s.”

And while the network is busy scheduling “formal training” for Lemon, Whoopi Goldberg stepped forward to deflect some of the arrows being sent Lemon’s way when she said of Haley declaring it’s “time for a new generation” when she announced her presidential bid, “You’re not a new generation, you’re 51. What are you talking about?”

“The View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin pointed out that Haley was part of a new generation when considering how old many politicians are in D.C., prompting Goldberg to fire back, “It’s not a new generation. She may be younger than most of those people, but her rhetoric is the same. She’s saying the same BS.”

Haley appeared on Fox News’s “The Story” on Monday to push back on the line of attack.

“It’s not new,” Haley said. “This happened when I ran for governor. I’ve had this all my life. When I was first elected governor, there were some minority Democrats that said ‘she’s not a minority, she’s just a conservative with a tan.’ They will come at me with everything. But none of that fazes me.”

“If my age is all they have, it means we’re winning. I’m okay with that,” she told anchor Martha MacCallum.

“The problem is, it’s just the hypocrisy of all of it. If Republicans said this about a Democrat candidate, they would have lost their minds,” Haley added. “Everybody would have been asking for everybody to be fired. It would have been all of this. So … this is one more example of how hypocritical the liberals are. They’re very quick to judge. They’re very quick to throw stones. But when it comes back at them, they act like we’re the ones that are bad. I think they’re really showing themselves for what they are.”

And while Lemon may see some comeuppance for his actions, don’t expect the same for Whoopi. After all, when it comes to elitist left-wing politics, she is royalty:
