Wild melee breaks out at NYC migrant center, 2 cops injured: ‘It’s like a prison here’

Fists flew as tensions erupted among hundreds of illegal aliens who were waiting outside of a New York City migrant center after someone tried to cut in line.

The action went down on Saturday morning at the center near Tompkins Square Park on East 7th Street in the East Village where a crowd of asylum seekers reported to be over 400 strong were in line on the bitterly cold winter morning when a man holding a cup of coffee tried to insert himself into the line, spilling his drink on others according to witnesses.

Before long, the altercation came to blows with one man slugging the line jumper while others piled on as police intervened in an attempt to restore order with video of the wild melee recorded and posted on social media.

“People were punching each other and fighting – a lot of people,” 27-year-old Samantha Hernandez, a Mexican migrant said, according to the New York Post. “I think they were desperate about the situation – it’s very bad. There’s too many people, and there’s not a lot of opportunities for us here. And [the city] treats us like animals.”

Two cops suffered minor injuries to their faces and knees breaking up the brawl. “They were treated at a local hospital, according to the NYPD. It was not immediately clear if any migrants suffered injuries,” the New York Post reported.

More video shows the cops bringing in additional barricades after the incident.

“They formed a line that stretched around the block at the former St. Brigid School, waiting to get inside to reapply for temporary housing after being booted under Mayor Adams’ 30-day cap on shelter stays. This center is the only place they can do so,” the outlet reported.

In another video, the surreal scene of an Amish choir singing to the illegals was shared to the X platform.

Conditions for the new arrivals to the Democrat-controlled sanctuary city aren’t what some of the illegals envisioned when they left their homelands for the U.S.

“It’s like a prison here,” one migrant from Africa told the Daily Mail last week as he waited in another line. “It’s negligence. We have no access to food, toilets, or anything. Animals live better here – pets in the street are treated better than us.”

The man who left his family behind in Congo added, “I cry and think, why did I do this? But it’s too late. I spent my life savings coming here and now I can’t get a job. What can I do?”
