Woke DA’s excuse for not seeking death penalty in Laken Riley case will BOIL your blood

Many were confused by the prosecution’s decision to leave the death penalty off the table for Laken Riley’s killer, and now we know why.

Jose Ibarra, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela, was found guilty of murdering the nursing student on Wednesday and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. For some, this was justice enough, but others wondered why the district attorney wouldn’t even try to seek the death penalty in such a brutal case.

According to the Daily Mail, the Soros-funded prosecutor Deborah Gonzalez had already decided they were no longer seeking the death penalty due to life without parole constituting a “very substantial punishment” already. She also opted not to prosecute many “simple” offenses, refused to use mandatory minimum sentencing, and took “into account collateral consequences to undocumented defendants.” This latter point strongly relates to Ibarra’s case, which served as a rallying cry for Republicans and conservatives who demanded tighter border security following the harrowing murder of Riley.

It’s not difficult to see why she lost her re-election campaign by a massive 20 points, as even her previous supporters had lost faith in her ability to obtain convictions and keep their communities safe.

Georgia State Senator Colton Moore took to X to demand Attorney General Chris Carr take action, and slammed Gonzalez for letting justice take a back seat to her “radical political agenda.”

“I am officially calling on Attorney General Chris Carr to file an emergency motion to intervene and demand the death penalty for the murderer of Laken Riley. District Attorney Deborah Gonzalez let her radical political agenda stand in the way of justice. By refusing to seek the death penalty, she denied Laken’s family, friends, and community the full measure of justice they deserve. Join me in calling on AG Chris Carr to demand the death penalty for Jose Ibarra,” he wrote in his post.
