Shinedown pulled out of the Rock The Country Festival, citing their band’s mission to “unite.”
On Friday, the band took to social media to announce their decision to withdraw from the patriotic festival, which bills itself as “a celebration of community, tradition, and the spirit that’s carried America through 250 years.”

“Shinedown is everyone’s band. We feel that we have been given a platform to bring all people together through the power of music and song,” a statement from the group reads. “We have one BOSS, and it is everyone in the audience. Our band’s purpose is to unite, not divide. With that in mind, we have made the decision that we will not be playing the Rock The Country Festival.”
“We know that this decision will create differences of opinion. But we do not want to participate in something we believe will create further division. And to our fans, thank you for supporting and believing in us.”
And “create differences of opinion,” it did, as X artists weighed in on the choice:

Then why even post this? You can’t preform at a festival that is Pro America? Says all we need to know. pic.twitter.com/pYmHx79UQt

You were one of my absolute favorite bands until 2 minutes ago.
How TF can celebrating American culture be divisive at all?
You guys are a massive Anti-American disappointment.
GFY Shinedown.

So not playing is uniting? Makes zero sense. Music is played for all ears.
Lost me as a long-time fan.

“We don’t wanna divide, so we’re gonna divide.”
Lol fuck off. Enjoy irrelevancy.

Funny that your drummer called ludacris a pussy for backing out and then you do it so I guess you’re pussies ♀️ pic.twitter.com/qNo5RdGlFo

Well ironically I find this very divisive that you have decided that participating in a music festival is somehow a political statement. So GFY

The older I become, the more I realize:
A. Musicians are ‘creative’, so most of them are flaming liberals.
B. A large percentage of our country is full of noncritical thinking sheep.
C. Rich and famous spend most of their time gaslighting + virtue signaling.
