Woman goes on hair-dragging rampage, attacks strangers, threatens babies, inside NYC park

Video footage captured a woman’s rampage through a Lower Manhattan park Sunday as she attacked and threatened strangers, including a baby, leaving witnesses crying out, “She needs to not be let out. No more.”

Random attacks stretched on for more than 15 minutes in and around New York City’s Tompkins Square Park Sunday as a woman’s seemingly unprovoked violence was chronicled. FreedomNewsTV (FNTV) captured the spree of apparent assaults with the suspect first seen purposefully approaching a woman seated in the grass before dragging her by her hair.

Moments later as fellow parkgoers were seen engaging with the woman, she could be seen making a move toward another woman holding an infant, stirring gasps and scream from onlookers that evidently deterred her. She left that portion of the park to cries of “Get the f*ck out,” only to smash a glass bottle, tear up a newspaper and harass yet another woman on her way out of the park.

However, her tirade did not end as she proceeded through the neighborhood disrupting diners before police interceded.

An NYPD spokesperson told Fox News that numerous calls had come in related to the woman in the 4 p.m. hour and “It was reported that the female was approaching various individuals, was screaming and throwing glass and various objects. Officers and EMS responded, and the female was transported to Bellevue Hospital for evaluation.”

As she was taken into custody, a filming bystander could be seen approaching the police to insist, “She needs to not be let out. No more,” before directing his ire at the suspect, “You don’t go around beating up strange people in the street — like seven people — pulling their hair, dragging them everywhere.”

In response, the woman seemed to say, “Anybody died, b*tch? Nobody.”

“It was crazy. She was just walking up to random people and grabbing their hair completely unsolicited,” witness Gianna Lotman told ABC7.

“I’ve never seen somebody so — go up to somebody and so confidently just,” she continued as she motioned with a sound effect, “and like take it.”

WABC 77 indicated that by “mid-Monday morning, the NYPD said they had no official details to share” and a request had been submitted to City Hall for clarity on police and medical professionals’ response. Meanwhile, FNTV went on to report that following her evaluation at Bellevue, the suspect had been released from custody Monday.

“Probably a repeat offender that is not getting the care she needs,” former NYPD sergeant Joseph Giacalone, an instructor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, suggested to Fox News. “Another example of the system not working, forcing the cops to deal with it anyway.”

Social media users reacted to the tirade with comparisons to the behavior of Jordan Neely prior to U.S. Marine Corps. veteran Daniel Penny stepping in on the subway on May 1. “She was just an innocent street performer. Reparations now!” one individual quipped as another incredulously asked, “How many people just watched and let her?”
