More details continue to be revealed about would-be assassin Ryan Routh whose plan to kill former President Donald J. Trump on his Florida golf course was foiled by the Secret Service on Sunday.
Before his latest arrest, the 58-year-old Ukraine zealot had compiled an impressive arrest record in Guilford County, NC where he once lived, being charged with writing bad checks, possession of a stolen vehicle, felony firearm possession, and possessing a weapon of mass destruction in 2022 described as a “binary explosive with a 10-in[ch] detonation cord and a blasting cap.”
One of the alleged assassin’s former neighbors recalled the family’s eccentric behavior when he lived in Greensboro before relocating to Hawaii, including keeping a “live horse” inside the house.

“He had a horse in the house. I mean, a whole live horse in the house. But I could see the guns and stuff and all. They were … oh, I mean, kind of weird. But they didn’t bother me. I didn’t bother them,” Kim Mungo said, according to Fox News Digital.
“I told all my friends because they didn’t believe me,” added Mungo who has known Routh for around 18 years. “It’s just crazy to me. He was a good guy. He was sweet.”
“It’s just crazy to me. He was a good guy, he was sweet. I never would have thought that,” she told ABC11.
“He just came back in May to clean the house out,” she said of her “charismatic” neighbor who moved 3-4 years ago.
Other neighbors also recalled Routh when reached out to by the media about his newfound infamy.
“I didn’t realize he lived two doors down,” Josh Patrick told ABC11, describing his “unusual” encounters with his ex-neighbor. “I was out walking around midnight; I walked past his place back there. I saw him come out the gate. I saw him slam the gate a couple of times, kind of like for no reason. And he walked next to me just like a few paces away.”
“He always wore his hood on and didn’t really say much. Walks really fast, was kind of jumpy,” Patrick told the outlet. “Just walking past my apartment really quick, like not even in the yard, just like right next to the this right here – this balcony area didn’t even say anything to me. He just walked straight into the yard.”
“Him, I mean, trying to shoot Trump. That’s a lot. I would have never guessed, and I would have swore up and down, no, that’s not him,” an unnamed neighbor told Greensboro Fox News affiliate WGHP. “I just can’t believe it. I mean, if I didn’t see it with my own eyes, I mean the pictures and stuff and all, then I wouldn’t be able to believe that.”
“I mean I didn’t think he would go that far. I knew he was a little cuckoo, but assassinating the president? I mean he’s going to be going away for a long time,” the former neighbor said.
