Democrats largely opted to avoid the impeachment circus they started under President Donald Trump’s first term, but that could be changing.
Congressional Black Caucus chair Yvette Clarke, D-New York, is suggesting that the president should face impeachment for mobilizing Marines and the National Guard to Los Angeles, though it appears that she will not be bringing the articles herself. She made the comments during a presser in which she was asked if she thought that Trump’s actions could be considered grounds for impeachment.
“I definitely believe it is,” she said. “But we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.”
Many Democrats, including Clarke, argue that the action of mobilizing the National Guard despite California Governor Gavin Newsom’s objections is unconstitutional. However, previous impeachment attempts by rogue leftists Rep. Shri Thanedar, D-Michigan, and Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, have been unpopular among Democrats going into the president’s second term. This could be due to the party’s deep lack of popularity among Americans, as evidenced by the results of the 2024 election cycle, which saw a resounding victory for Republicans. It’s likely that the Democrats will wait until they are back in favor with voters before pursuing impeachment action, lest they inflict more damage on their already-ailing public image.
House Democratic Caucus chair Pete Aguilar, D-California, implied as much during a subsequent press conference.
“I’ve said before that … House Democrats aren’t focused on impeachment today,” he said, adding that they will consider the “very difficult questions” regarding “the policies that this administration is doing currently” should they regain the House majority in the upcoming 2026 midterms.

Of course. Everything he does is impeachable, in their eyes.
