5 biggest moments of Trump CNN townhall: From ‘You’re a nasty person!’ to ‘Vagina Cat’

Former President Donald Trump appeared on CNN late Wednesday for his first 2024 presidential election town hall.

The town hall was, as expected, brimming with explosions and fireworks, including the following top five:

Nasty Person

During an exchange about the classified documents scandal, the former president called CNN town hall moderator Kaitlan Collins a “nasty person.”

The exchange began with him pointing out that the Department of Justice didn’t raid current president Joe Biden’s home, despite him also being ensnared in a classified documents scandal of his own.

“They didn’t raid the house of Joe Biden. They didn’t raid Obama,” he said.

Collins replied with a fact-check.

“Joe Biden didn’t ignore a subpoena to get those documents back like you did. The question that investigators have, I think, is why you held on to those documents when you knew the federal government was seeking them and then had given you a subpoena to return them,” she said.

“Can I talk?” Trump immediately asked.

“Yeah. What’s the answer?” Collins replied.

“Do you mind?” Trump asked, still confused about whether he could talk.

“I would like for you to answer the question,” the CNN moderator said.

“It’s very simple to answer,” the president replied.

“That’s why I asked it,” Collins responded, prompting Trump to snap.

“You’re a nasty person!” he bellowed to laughter and applause.

Vagina Cat

During an exchange about E. Jean Carroll’s civil lawsuit against him, the former president made a series of wild claims about her, including that she owns or once owned a cat that she’d named Vagina.

“I don’t know her. I never met her. I have no idea who she is. I had a picture taken years ago with her and her husband. Nice guy, Johnson. He was a newscaster, very nice man. She called him an ape. Happens to be African American. Called him an ape,” he said.

“The judge wouldn’t allow us to put that in. Her dog or her cat was named ‘Vagina.’ The judge wouldn’t allow to put that in all of these things. But with her, they could put in anything. Access Hollywood,” he added.

Watch:

Ukraine War

During an exchange about the war in Ukraine, the former president vowed he could end it in 24 hours.

“If I’m president, I will have that war settled in one day — 24 hours. I’ll meet with Putin. I’ll meet with Zelenskyy. They both have weaknesses. They both have strengths. And within 24 hours, that war will be settled,” he said.

“I want everyone to stop dying. They’re dying, Russians and Ukrainians. I want them to stop dying. And I’ll have that done … in 24 hours, I’ll have it done. You need the power of the presidency to do it,” he added.

Watch:

2020 Election

On the topic of the 2020 presidential election, the former president doubled down on his contention that it was stolen from him.

“I think that when you look at that result and when you look at what happened during that election, unless you’re a very stupid person, you see what happens. A lot of the people in this audience and probably maybe a couple that don’t, but most people understand what happened,” he said.

“That was a rigged election, and it’s a shame we had to go through it. It’s bad for our country. All over the world, they looked at it and they saw exactly what everyone else saw. Even if you look recently with the 51 intelligence agents — that made a difference. If you look at the FBI and Twitter, call it Twitter Files, it made a big difference,” he added.

Collins responded with a fact-check.

“Mr. President, back to what you just said there, though. It was not a rigged election. It was not a stolen election. You and your supporters lost more than 60 court cases on the election. It’s been nearly two and a half years. Can you publicly acknowledge that you did lose the 2020 election?” she said.

“Let me just go on. If you look at True the Vote, they found millions of votes on camera, on government cameras where they were stuffing ballot boxes. So with all of that, I think it’s a shame what happened. I think it’s a very sad thing for our country. I think it’s a very sad thing frankly for the world,” he replied.

Watch:

Pardons For J6ers

And finally, during an exchange about the Jan. 6th riot, the former president vowed to pardon almost everybody who’s been prosecuted for participating in it.

“I am inclined to pardon many of them. I can’t say for every single one because a couple of them probably got out of control. But you know when you look at it, when you look at Antifa and what they’ve done to Portland. When you look at Antifa and what they’ve done to Minneapolis and so many other places. Look what they did to Seattle and BLM. Many people were killed. I’m not trying to justify anything. But you have two standards of justice in this country,” he said.
