ABC’s Raddatz blames Trump, DeSantis, Abbott for influx: ‘I don’t think I’ve ever heard President Biden’ say, we have an open border’

ABC News’ Martha Raddatz says the crisis at the U.S. border with Mexico — one that is about to get much worse with the expiration of Title 42 — is the fault of former President Donald Trump and Republican governors such as Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis because they spend so much time complaining about “open borders.”

Speaking to Gov. Abbott on”This Week,” Raddatz argued that because President Joe Biden never mentions that the border is swung wide open, the flood of asylum seekers wasn’t overwhelming our cities because of failed policies that have all but rolled the red, white, and blue carpet out for them.

“You talk about the border wall, you talk about open borders,” Raddatz began. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard President Biden say, ‘We have an open border, come on over.'”

“But people I have heard say it are you,” she continued, pointing a finger at Abbott, are former President Trump, Ron DeSantis. That message reverberates in Mexico and beyond. So they do get the message that it is an open border and smugglers use all those kinds of statements.”

It was a stunning attempt to gaslight the American people — one so absurd, so transparent, it’s hard to believe Raddatz could spit it out with a straight face.

As BizPac Review reported, Title 42, a Trump-era policy that restricted the number of people who could obtain asylum during the COVID-19 pandemic, is set to expire on Wednesday.

Currently, 2,500 migrants per day are swamping the shelters and streets of El Paso, Texas. With the impending expiration of Title 42, that number is expected to more than double.

In an attempt to get ahead of the wave, El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser has declared a state of emergency in the border town.

“We know the influx on Wednesday [December 21] will be incredible it will be huge,” Leeser said. “On Wednesday our numbers will go from 2,500 to 4,000, 5,000, maybe 6,000.”

But sure, the would-be border crossers are lining up by the thousands because of Trump.

Abbott quickly shut Raddatz down.

“It was known from the time that Joe Biden got elected that Joe Biden supported open borders,” he shot back. “It’s known by the cartels who have sophisticated information whether or not the Biden administration is going to enforce the immigration laws or not is known across the world but most importantly known among the cartels.”

“How do you play into that?” Raddatz countered. “What can you do better?”

“We have every level of government doing everything we can to prevent people from coming into the country illegally, or are repelling them or are arresting them and putting them behind bars,” he answered plainly.

Online, Raddatz was roasted for her ridiculous take on the border crisis.

“WTF kind of drugs is @MarthaRaddatz @ABC on?” asked one Twitter user.
