‘Actually horrific’: Liz Warren slammed for heartless call to ‘shut down’ every pregnancy center across the nation

Drunk on some kind of twisted logic elixir, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) attacked crisis pregnancy centers that provide actual resources and support to expectant mothers in lieu of abortion, claiming all such centers should be shut down in the wake of the reversal of Roe v. Wade — a stance one Sacramento, Calif.,-based pregnancy center director calls “horrific” and “tragic.”

Heidi Matzke, who heads Alternatives Pregnancy Center in progressive California’s state capital, has seen violent attacks on her clinic since the explosive Supreme Court decision came down on an already divided and angry America.

“We have had to stop operations of our mobile clinic,” Matzke said on “Fox & Friends First” on Thursday. “We’ve had to hire 24-hour onsite security. We’ve had to add cameras. We’ve had to arm our staff with pepper spray.”

Last week, she said, a machete-wielding man turned up and was fortunately stopped before anyone or anything was hurt.

So, in an already dangerous and emotionally charged environment, it obviously doesn’t help to have a sitting U.S. Senator screaming without sense or reason about torturing pregnant women, but that’s exactly what Elizabeth Warren did on Tuesday when she argued that the crisis centers are heartlessly trying to “fool” people who just want to kill their unborn babies.

Well, almost exactly. Warren couldn’t quite bring herself to say “pregnant women” because incorrectly assuming someone’s gender when they’re trying to rip a kid out of their womb would just be offensive.

“In Massachusetts right now, those crisis pregnancy centers that are there to fool people who are looking for pregnancy termination help outnumber true abortion clinics by 3 to 1,” Warren stated. “We need to shut them down here in Massachusetts, and we need to shut them down all around the country. You should not be able to torture a pregnant person like that.”

“Her words are actually horrific,” Matzke told Fox co-host Carley Shimkus. “Pregnancy centers throughout the entire country give away $266 million of free medical services and resources to communities all over this incredible country, and her words are just incredibly hurtful.”

Matzke stressed that her clinic is a fully licensed ob-gyn medical clinic staffed with doctors, nurses, and nurse practitioners.

“It’s so important for our community to understand that the women that serve at our clinic, most of them have experienced abortions for themselves, and they basically say, had they only had a pregnancy center like ours to turn to when they face their unplanned pregnancy, their life today would look so much different,” she said. “And we are all about providing hope and help to women facing unplanned pregnancies and resources to women who actually want their babies.”

“It’s a blessing,” she said. “And what I want to want people to know is that pregnancy centers also help women who have experienced the pain and loss of abortion. We’re there after a woman has experienced abortion. I have to raise $1.5 million every year… so we can give away free services to women. So, her words are tragic.”

Online, Daily Wire DC correspondent Mary Margaret Olohan was quick to point out the insanity of Warren’s reasoning via a string of sarcastic — and effective — tweets.
