President-elect Donald Trump was met with cheers and applause as he rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange.
Chants of “USA!” broke out in the room as the incoming president made a few brief remarks, promising “an economy the likes of which nobody’s ever seen before” ahead of the historic moment.

Vice President-elect JD Vance, incoming First Lady Melania Trump, and Trump’s daughters Ivanka and Tiffany flanked the former and future president along with NYSE President Lynn Martin.

Goldman Sachs’ David Solomon, Citigroup’s Jane Fraser, Verizon’s Hans Vestberg, Brian Cornell of Target, and Pershing Square’s Bill Ackman were part of the crowd of onlookers cheering Trump on Thursday during the historic moment.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump’s nominee for Health Secretary, as well as his Treasury pick, Scott Bessent, were also on hand as were Interior Secretary nominee Doug Burgum, and Trump’s Commerce Secretary pick, Howard Lutnick.
Trump’s arrival at the NYSE building in lower Manhattan was met with shouts of “thank you” and other greetings as he made his way.

As Trump signed the NYSE guest book, he was told how he is the first president to ring the bell since Ronald Reagan in 1985.

“We’re going to give tremendous incentive like no other country has,” Trump told the crowd Thursday. “We’re cutting your taxes. We’re going to cut them very substantially.”
“We got them down to 21% from probably 42 or 44%, depending on where you are. And we got them down to 21 [percent]. Everyone said that was a miracle,” he added. “Now we’re getting them down to 15 [percent], but only if you make your product here.”
He also commented on the financial hardships being faced by Americans, saying, “That should never happen in America and it’s not going to happen in America.”
“We’re going to do it right, and we’re going to take care of our people, and we’re going to do things that nobody ever thought even were possible,” the president-elect said. “But we’re going to have an economy, the likes of which nobody’s ever seen before, and everybody’s coming back to America.”
