Abdul El-Sayed, a socialist running for a Michigan U.S. Senate seat, has been accused of benefiting from fraudulent donations processed through ActBlue.
ActBlue is a major online fundraising platform and political action committee (PAC) used primarily by Democratic candidates, progressive campaigns, committees, and nonprofits.
An investigation by the Michigan Enjoyer found that Elizabeth Waffle, a Michigan woman, allegedly made 14,000 donations totaling $150,000+ to Democrats, including 47 donations to El-Sayed, over five years.

Is El-Sayed’s Campaign Funded by Elderly Fake Donors?
ActBlue says an 88-year-old widow has given over $150k to Dems over the past five years, but she says that’s not possibleBy Charlie LeDuff @Charlieleduff

There’s just one problem. Waffle lives modestly in a trailer with no computer and limited internet.
“Waffle, 88, was forced to move into a shabby trailer two years ago after her house burned down,” according to the Enjoyer. “She owns an old pickup truck but no computer.”
In addition, she said that she only ever made a few dozen small real donations.
Asked about the Enjoyer’s findings, she was flabbergasted.
“One hundred and fifty thousand?” she asked in shock. “Hell no. I don’t have that kind of money.”
She also denied contributing to El-Sayed 47 times, though she did admit to giving him at least a little something.
Based on all this, the Enjoyer accused the socialist congressional wannabe of being full of it.
“El-Sayed promises to get money out of politics. He makes a great show of refusing corporate PAC money. But that’s just wordplay,” the Enjoyer noted. “El-Sayed does take special interest money. He takes money from his father-in-law. Most concerning, he takes money from ActBlue.”
And this is itself problematic because the evidence has long suggested ActBlue is up to no good.
“The subject of multiple investigations, the fundraising platform is accused of ‘rinsing’ foreign money and massive private donations by using the stolen names and addresses of real, often elderly Americans to fabricate hundreds of small-dollar donations,” according to the Enjoyer. “Names like Elizabeth Waffle.”
ActBlue’s records of Waffle are even more ridiculous. They show that she donated both from her trailer and an apartment she used to rent — they even show her sometimes “donating from both the trailer and the apartment on the same day.”
“This is very abnormal,” she told the Enjoyer. “I think it’s wrong, and I think there’s something in there that’s off.”
It’s because of crap like this that President Donald Trump signed an order in early 2025 cracking down on illegal election fundraising activities by the organization.
“President Donald J. Trump signed a Presidential Memorandum to crack down on illegal ‘straw donor’ and foreign contributions in American elections, following reports and congressional investigations regarding potentially unlawful activities through ActBlue and other online fundraising platforms,” a White House fact sheet explained.
The order specifically directed then-Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate these allegations further and then “take appropriate action” to rein them in.
President Trump has directed the DOJ to investigate ActBlue and its alleged “significant fraud campaigns” and “straw donations” from “foreign IP addresses” in a newly signed memorandum. The AG should report on the “findings” in 180 days.https://t.co/urfy7Is6em

Democrats and their propaganda media allies responded to the memo by accusing the president of purposefully targeting his political opponents.
“It was the third time in three weeks that Mr. Trump has directed the government to target a perceived political enemy,” The New York Times breathlessly alleged. “He has drastically expanded the use of his powers to try to damage domestic opponents, eroding a post-Watergate norm of Justice Department independence far more than he ever did in his first term.”
In the eyes of the deranged left, it’s morally wrong to hold Democrats accountable for anything, including even fraudulent donations. Meanwhile, it’s OK to blame Republicans for virtually everything, including climate change, gun-related violence, and racism/discrimination.
Yet this isn’t even the first time ActBlue has been caught:
Let’s recap: Through publicly available records, it was discovered that Maryland voters had excessive amounts of donations made in their names.
We confirmed that they did NOT make these high volume contributions #FollowTheMoneypic.twitter.com/7BONDTqLIh
