AOC accuses Israel of war crimes AFTER admitting Hamas engaged in ‘horrific attacks’

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is calling for a ceasefire while accusing Israel of war crimes, asserting that Hamas’ “horrific” attacks do not justify their response.

The New York Democratic Socialist claimed she was not defending Hamas while calling on Israel to stop defending itself on Sunday during an interview on MSNBC’s “The Mehdi Hasan Show.” The congresswoman was justifying calling for a ceasefire after Hamas terrorists killed over 1,400 Israelis on Oct. 7 and kidnapped hundreds more including children. She also did not address the rapes and barbaric atrocities that Hamas committed.

Ocasio-Cortez asserted that Israel’s so-called “war crimes” in reaction to terrorist attacks are not the appropriate response.

“I think one of the things that’s important to recognize about this situation is the asymmetry of what is going on as well as the collective punishment of what is happening to the Palestinian people at this moment. Hamas has absolutely engaged in horrific attacks. Every single day there are more details that are released about what occurred on October 7th that shocks the human consciousness and shocks our conscience, our collective conscience,” she admitted.

“However we do know as well that war crimes do not constitute and are not an appropriate response for other war crimes,” she argued. “It is unacceptable to think that 1,700 Palestinian children alone, their deaths will somehow make up or justify the violence of what we saw on October 7th.”

The “Squad” Democrat went aggressively after Israel over its “indiscriminate bombing campaign” against Gaza.

“It occurs to me, I think a question we all must ask ourselves, what price of innocent life is acceptable in terms of targeting Hamas? And are we even receiving? We are receiving daily counts every day about the number of innocent people that are dying. We are not seeing reports on how effective this has actually been in terms of dismantling Hamas. I think it’s very important for us to raise that point. I think it’s important for us to understand that this is part of a larger intergenerational cycle of violence,” Ocasio-Cortez continued.

“When we are talking about the blockading of water, food, electricity, to a population of 2.2 million Palestinians … the dropping and deployment of white phosphorous, which is also a war crime, it is unacceptable to think that 1,700 Palestinian children alone, that their deaths will somehow make up or justify the violence of what we saw on Oct. 7,” she stated.

Ocasio-Cortez said during the interview that her accusations against Israel are “absolutely not a defense of Hamas.” The congresswoman attempted to parse her words carefully, contending that the “political aims of violence” on either side amount to the “dehumanization” of the other.

The moral equivocation of claiming not to defend Hamas while excoriating Israel is being utilized not only by Ocasio-Cortez but by her fellow “Squad” members Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), and Cori Bush (D-Mo.) All of them are demanding a ceasefire while hammering Israel and defending Palestinians. They avoid answering whether Israel has a right to defend itself.

Toward the end of the interview, Ocasio-Cortez also threw down the race card, claiming that other politicians who don’t call for a ceasefire are basically racist.

“I have long found the ignoring and sidelining of Palestinians in the U.S. House of Representatives, the humanity of Palestinian populations in the five years that I’ve been in Congress, quite shocking. This is not something that is new to many of us,” she charged.
