AOC rants about coffee prices after Trump rids US of Colombian gangbangers

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is not taking the start of President Donald Trump’s second term very well.

On Sunday, the progressive lawmaker took to social media to rage at the president over his “emergency tariffs” targeting Colombia in response to the country refusing two United States repatriation flights full of its citizens. She is outraged because the move will affect the price of coffee, and accuses him of somehow “lining the pockets of himself and the billionaire class” with these tariffs.

Look:

“To ‘punish’ Colombia, Trump is about to make every American pay even more for coffee. Remember: *WE* pay the tariffs, not Colombia. Trump is all about making inflation WORSE for working class Americans, not better. He’s lining the pockets of himself and the billionaire class,” she raged in a post on X.

She was reacting to Trump’s Truth Social post where he outlined the measures being taken against the country.

“I was just informed that two repatriation flights from the United States, with a large number of Illegal Criminals, were not allowed to land in Colombia. This order was given by Colombia’s Socialist President Gustavo Petro, who is already very unpopular amongst his people. Petro’s denial of these flights has jeopardized the National Security and Public Safety of the United States, so I have directed my Administration to immediately take the following urgent and decisive retaliatory measures,” he wrote. “Emergency 25% tariffs on all goods coming into the United States. In one week, the 25% tariffs will be raised to 50%. A Travel Ban and immediate Visa Revocations on the Colombian Government Officials, and all Allies and Supporters. Visa Sanctions on all Party Members, Family Members, and Supporters of the Colombian Government. Enhanced Customs and Border Protection Inspections of all Colombian Nationals and Cargo on national security grounds. IEEPA Treasury, Banking and Financial Sanctions to be fully imposed.”

“These measures are just the beginning. We will not allow the Colombian Government to violate its legal obligations with regard to the acceptance and return of the Criminals they forced into the United States!” Trump said.

Hours after the threats of tariffs, the White House announced that the country of Colombia had a change of heart.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt issued a statement late Sunday confirming the “Government of Colombia has agreed to all of President Trump’s terms, including the unrestricted acceptance of all illegal aliens from Colombia returned from the United States, including on U.S. military aircraft, without limitation or delay.”

She also noted that this doesn’t eliminate the threat of tariffs on the country which are “held in reserve, and not signed,” and that visa restrictions would be maintained “until the first planeload of Colombian deportees is successfully returned.”

X users scolded AOC for her take:
