AOC suddenly has better 2028 presidential odds than Gavin Newsom – but all is not well

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is eyeing better odds in 2028 as presidential predictions have her passing a potential contender.

According to online prediction market PolyMarket, AOC is now enjoying a lead over California Governor Gavin Newsom, amid a surge in the popularity of DSA candidates and socialism.

Look:

“BREAKING: AOC surges ahead of Gavin Newsom in the 2028 presidential odds for the first time, as democratic socialism expands its national reach. 11% chance AOC takes the White House,” the company wrote, alongside a graphic showing the distance between the two potential candidates closing the gap between them over the last year.

However, this also comes as a new CNN/SSRS poll indicates that Ocasio-Cortez is seeing a decrease in popularity among young people, who would likely make up a large portion of her voting base if she did run in 2028.

“Only 28% of voters in the 18-34 bracket give her a favorable rating,” The New York Post reported. “Her numbers are worse among politically vital independents, where she scores just 22%, according to data reported by Puck News.”

“And there is more bad news when it comes to her overall favorability rating, which sits at just 26% with a 36% unfavorable rating. This puts her behind New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who enjoys 30% favorability and 35% unfavorability,” BizPac Review wrote.
