Attack on ‘white b*tch with braids’ may have been racially motivated: Boston police

An attack on a 19-year-old woman in Boston may have been racially motivated and could be investigated as a hate crime, according to the Boston Police.

A phone call to 911 alerted cops to a group of over 10 people, some reportedly as young as 12-years-old, allegedly attacking the victim, who claimed that a perpetrator called her a “white b**** with braids” even though she identifies as Hispanic. She reportedly attempted to relay this information to the group, but that didn’t stop five of them from reportedly grabbing her by the hair and proceeding to assault her.

“There were at least 15 girls chasing after the woman on the bike, and they started pounding on her,” one witness, identified as Christopher Jackson, told Boston 25 News. “They got her down on the ground, and they were holding her down.”

“Her face was all red and scratched. She got up, and she looked like she didn’t know where she was,” he added, noting that two bystanders who attempted to intervene were also attacked by the group.

Cops found the group but were attacked themselves as they attempted to detain the suspects. A male member of the group allegedly spat on an officer, and then went on to “violently kick” the doors of a police vehicle. Another attempted to free two of the suspects in the back of a police cruiser, and when an officer tried to stop her, she rained punches on his face while allegedly shouting “What you wanna do? What you wanna do?”

Yet another officer was reportedly kicked in the shin, another had her hair pulled, and a third was spat on.

The case has been given to the Civil Rights Unit and will reportedly be investigated for any racial motive for the attack and a witness to the attack has provided a recording of the attack to the police. The victim went to the hospital for treatment for her injuries, she reportedly had a large lump over her eye.

Five of the girls are facing charges in the crime, according to Boston 25 News. Apparently, this is not the first time something like this has happened. In fact, a police report indicates that this particular area of Boston is seeing a surge in these kinds of crimes and has “sustained a recent barrage of juvenile incidents within the district involving young teenagers fighting in public, causing disturbances inside businesses, vandalizing storefronts by smashing glass windows with blunt objects, aggravated assaults, assaults on police officers, and civil rights violations.”
