Woke sports were delivered a wake-up call after young American champions with “Zero Rapinoes” in sight demonstrated “how it’s done.”
“…SO refreshing to see such pride from these young men!!!!”
Though readily wedged out in favor of walking off, kneeling, or alternative anthems, national pride was not wholly forgotten in the age of inclusivity. Standing, and singing, as proof of that, were the champions of the International Ice Hockey Federation Junior Championship from Team USA seen belting out “The Star-Spangled Banner” Friday after their gold medal victory against Sweden.
Comprised of athletes under the age of 20, the celebration following the 6-2 victory caught the attention of many, including commentator Megyn Kelly, who readily contrasted their pride with the oft-criticized displays from the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team and their since-retired “wokesperson,” Megan Rapinoe.
“[Attention] USA women’s soccer,” said Kelly sharing the snippet of the team’s rendition of the anthem lined up with arms across one another’s shoulders, “this is what is expected of you if you agree to wear America’s jersey. Otherwise LET SOMEONE ELSE DO IT. These boys show how it’s done. Listen up. God bless them and God bless America!”

Equally ripped was ESPN by former network anchor Sage Steele who contrasted the Disney-owned broadcaster’s coverage with that of Canada’s TSN which both aired the celebration and circulated it online.
“Crazy that CANADA’s top sports network @TSN_Sports chose to show this special moment from AMERICA’s junior hockey team after winning gold..but AMERICA’s largest sports network @espn chose to completely ignore it on all social media platforms,” wrote Steele sharing TSN’s clip from the on-ice revelry.
“Also crazy considering ESPN’s rights deal with the @NHL,” she continued. “Unlike so many famous millionaire athletes who complain about this country but gladly take the [money]…it’s SO refreshing to see such pride from these young men!!!!”

Adding to the critique was former NHL player, two-time Olympian, and ousted NBC Sports commentator Jeremy Roenick who wrote, “Class as usual!! One of the reasons I love canada! ESPN doesn’t really like hockey if they can’t make money on it. It’s too bad actually cause this was huge win for American hockey. Typical.”
In response, Steele added, “Yes…typical…..which breaks my heart for these kids. In my experience, NHL players are THE BEST to work with … by far the classiest pro athletes around.! It is wrong to ignore them like this!”

While others like conservative activist and former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines tacked on in calling out Rapinoe and her circle of malcontents, still more celebrated the victory and the celebration for keeping alive a piece of Americana that would readily be relegated to the dustbin of history were cancel culture to have its way.
As one person wrote on X, “Just a bunch of bald eagles being dudes.”

Seems some in your Constitutional Republic have forgotten what it means to be the land of the free and the home of the brave. The Star Spangled Banner makes me emotional and I am not even American by what your nation has meant to my family. Great job! Refreshing.

Nice to see this again. That’s how I remember US athletes, growing up and when I played. Always proud to represent the USA.
