AZ’s Kari Lake says NFL ‘not that stupid’ to pull Super Bowl if she’s elected, declares ‘invasion’ on border

Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake proved to Arizona voters on Sunday that she is not afraid to go toe-to-toe with “billionaires” over her stance on the border crisis — even if it means tackling the NFL.

Following the refusal of Democratic candidate Katie Hobbs to debate her feisty opponent, Lake joined moderator Mike Broomhead for a one-on-one question and answer session, in which Lake confirmed that, if elected, she would on day one declare the crisis at the border with Mexico an invasion.

“Do you believe you have the legal authority to do that?” Broomhead asked.

“Absolutely,” the ever-prepared Lake shot back. “Article one, section 10, United States Constitution.”

Broomhead then recalled the time in the 1990s when the NFL yanked the Super Bowl from The Grand Canyon State over its refusal to recognize Martin Luther King Day as a holiday.

“You would be sworn in a month from the Super Bowl being here,” he reminded Lake. “If the NFL were to threaten they’re going to pull the Super Bowl if you do that, would it make you waver in your decision?”

If the football league was considering such a move, chances are they are now rethinking things.

“You want to tell me that a bunch of football teams owned by billionaires are okay with fentanyl pouring across our border at a record level, killing our young people?” Lake asked. “Number one killer right now is fentanyl, 18-45. It’s killing a generation of people.”

“If the NFL is okay with that, then they ought to do some soul-searching,” she stated, essentially daring them to try it. “I don’t think the NFL’s that stupid. I really don’t.”

It’s Lake’s effortless ability to shame folks with indisputable facts that likely led Hobbs to hide from a confrontation with her.

In a recent show-down with the biased mainstream media, Lake “brought receipts” to show that Democrats have more than their share of “election deniers.”

After requesting a stack of papers from an aide, Lake calmly told reporters, “Here’s 150 examples of Democrats denying election results. Oh wow, look at this.”

She then presented example after example of Democrats, including Hillary Clinton, denying that their candidate lost previous elections.

It was a take-down that Tucker Carlson said “strikes at the heart” of Democrats’ power.

“Without the complicity of the media, there is no chance neoliberal Democrats could get elected to office,” he stated. “Not one of them, ever.”

A 30-year veteran of television news, Lake knows the games the media plays and how best to counter them, and with respect to the NFL, she’s clearly not afraid to go on the offensive.

“I don’t answer to the @NFL,” she stated. “I answer to the people of Arizona.”

“If the NFL wants to play chicken over the 2023 Super Bowl,” she said, “I can promise you that I win that game.”
