Bank records show Hunter Biden had two payments wired from China using dad’s address

Payments of over a quarter million dollars wired from China to Hunter Biden at his father’s home begged the question, “What did the Bidens do with this money from Beijing?”

After quietly issuing a subpoena Monday for the younger Biden’s bank records, the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability uncovered two separate wire transfers that listed then-former Vice President Joe Biden’s address. The sums of $10,000 and $250,000 coming a week apart in the summer of 2019 came from China despite contrary claims regarding earnings from the now-first family.

“A few months after Joe Biden announced his candidacy in 2019, information available to the Committee shows Hunter Biden received two wires from China for $250,000 and $10,000, including from Jonathan Li,” a statement from the Oversight Committee said Tuesday. Li was BHR Partners CEO, the private investment fund for which Hunter’s attorney George Mesires had said his client only acted “as a member of its board of directors” in an “unpaid position.”

More alarming, the wires have Joe Biden’s home in Wilmington, DE as the beneficiary address,” the committee added.

Summing up the timeline, the committee recapped how when Biden served as vice president he had established a relationship with Li. “Devon Archer, a Biden business associate, described how Joe Biden met with Jonathan Li for coffee in Beijing, China, had a phone call with him, and wrote college recommendation letters for his children.”

Three months after Biden announced his bid for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, Wang Xin of BHR partners was said to have wired $10,000 to the Biden’s Delaware home. A week later on August 2, 2019, “Jonathan Li wired $250,000 with Joe Biden’s home listed on the wire.”

Hunter had been residing at the Delaware home for two years following the 2017 divorce from his first wife.

The release from the committee highlighted that during the final debate between the former vice president and then-President Donald Trump on Oct. 22, 2020, Biden had said, “My son has not made money…in China.”

A statement from Oversight Committee chair Kentucky Rep. James Comer (R) said in part, “In 2020, Joe Biden told Americans that his family never received money from China. We’ve already proved that to be a lie earlier this year, and now we know that two wires originating from Beijing listed Joe Biden’s Wilmington home as the beneficiary address when he was running for President of the United States. When Joe Biden was vice president, he spoke one the phone and had coffee with Jonathan Li in Beijing, and later wrote a college letter of recommendation for his children.”

As reported in April 2022, emails from Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop included correspondence between Li and Biden’s business partner Devon Archer related to the Chinese businessman’s son seeking admission to three elite colleges. Further communications showed Hunter had asked his father to write a letter of recommendation for Li’s son.

“Joe Biden’s abuse of public office for his family’s financial gain threatens our national security. What did the Bidens do with this money from Beijing?” asked Comer. “Americans demand and deserve accountability for President Biden and the First Family’s corruption. The Oversight Committee, along with the Judiciary and Ways and Means Committees, will continue to follow the evidence and money to provide transparency and accountability.”

In a statement to CNN, Hunter Biden’s attorney Abbe Lowell dismissed suggestions that the payments were anything but above board as he claimed “This was a documented loan (not a distribution or pay-out) that was wired from a private individual to this new bank account which listed the address on his driver’s license, his parents’ address, because it was his only permanent address at the time. We expect more occasions where the Republican chairs twist the truth to mislead people to promote their fantasy political agenda.”

Furthermore, White House spokesman Ian Sams blasted the focus on alleged influence-peddling from the Bidens with the potential of a government shutdown looming,

“Comer and [Ohio Rep.] Jim Jordan should explain to the military servicemembers living in Kentucky and Ohio who will continue to do their jobs even without their paychecks why they are wasting their time attacking President Biden with debunked conspiracies instead of trying to avoid the calamitous consequences of the House Republican government shutdown,” he said.

“This is exactly the kind of extreme, partisan politics the American people are sick and tired of,” added Sams.
