Conservative commentator Steve Bannon tore into Nikki Haley, the establishment’s obvious choice to emerge from the primaries with the Republican nomination and a matchup with Joe Biden next November.
Despite being distrusted and disliked by much of her party’s base, many feel the former South Carolina governor and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations is beloved by the corporate and Wall Street overlords who are determined to wrestle back total control of the GOP after former President Trump led a populist revolt in 2016.
On Friday’s edition of his “War Room” podcast,” Bannon ripped the favored candidate over the taxation policies that disproportionately affected the little people during her tenure as governor as an example of why she’s the pick of the mega-wealthy who are backing her presidential bid.
“Nikki Haley is the representative of the neoliberal neocon oligarchs that run this nation. Full stop,” he told viewers and listeners.

“Number one, in those taxes: what they don’t talk about those are regressive taxes that hurt people lower down the food chain. When I say lower down the food chain, I mean middle class and below and particularly lower middle class, the working class, those are regressive taxes, taxes on consumption.” Bannon said.
“She never talks about taxing the wealthy ever. She’s the donors’ Praetorian Guard,” he continued.
“So she has a history of raising taxes on people and particularly these sales taxes which are horribly regressive,” he added, accusing her of “protecting the donor class.”
Haley recently scored the backing of Americans for Prosperity Action, the group backed by billionaire Charles Koch, the surviving member of the plutocratic Koch Brothers which is fiercely opposed to a second Trump presidency.
.@NikkiHaley represents a new generation of conservative leaders who will solve the tough problems and lead our country forward.
Her positive vision for America is what we desperately need.

Bannon also criticized Haley for “taking the lead like she’s some big hero” on overhauling Social Security and Medicare, programs that the majority of Americans who aren’t rich depend on for their very existence during their later years of life.
“Until we can show any cut in discretionary spending, the American people are not prepared to have the political class touch their entitlements, they shouldn’t. The political class is totally untrustworthy,” he said, adding that a discussion on reforms does need to happen but not until “the conditions are correct.”
“And the conditions are correct when the political class has stopped working for the global masters,” he said.
He also noted that despite her “happy talk” of liberty and freedom, she is a devout backer of Joe Biden’s proxy war on Russia in Ukraine, a conflict that has become increasingly unpopular with many congressional Republicans who are opposed to the continued blank check to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the leader of the notoriously corrupt Eastern European country.
Haley wants to fully fund the increasingly costly war that “everybody in the world even the European people don’t want to fund right now,” with billions going to prop up Ukraine’s pensions and entitlement system while Americans are being battered by “Bidenomics” at home.
“We’re not we’re not going to fund anybody’s pensions throughout the world until we make sure that the American people are taken care of,” Bannon said. “This is why she’s neoliberal neocon Nikki.”
