The assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump presented a unifying moment for the GOP as one former top cop rose to Trump’s defense over the Left’s “grossly irresponsible” claims.
Recognition of the damage wrought on the country by incumbent President Joe Biden and his Marxist ideologue-aligned allies had proven more than enough for Republicans who’d drifted away from Trump to see fit to course correct with the election looming.
Having already endorsed the presumptive nominee for a return to the White House, former Attorney General Bill Barr re-cemented his support for the 45th president with a slam against Democrats of all walks.
Late Saturday on X, in the hours after the tragedy in Butler, Pennsylvania took the life of a rally-goer, Fox News digital correspondent Brooke Singman cited Barr as arguing, ‘The Democrats have to stop their grossly irresponsible talk about Trump being an existential threat to democracy. He is not.'”

To his point, former U.S. Deputy National Security Advisor KT McFarland, who served during the opening months of the Trump administration, had remarked on X less than an hour earlier, “People in NY/DC establishment, think tank world, have for months talked openly about Trump being ‘an existential threat to America’ who must be ‘stopped at all costs.’ Did they pull the trigger? No, but they blew the dog whistles.”

As had been reported Saturday, the GOP leader’s own niece, Mary Trump, had slammed her uncle as a “despicable, pathetic, vile, traitorous idiot,” in a prime example of Trump Derangement Syndrome as she lamented ongoing talk about President Joe Biden’s mental acuity.
Meanwhile, even “The Breakfast Club” host Charlamagne Tha God had issued a challenge to the rhetoric that simultaneously highlighted how dangerous it was when he spoke on the Supreme Court ruling regarding presidential immunity.
The commentator argued from the dissent’s point of view, “Biden’s in office, so all of these kingly powers that you’re talking about the president having, Biden has now. And he could use some of those kingly powers to protect democracy, but he won’t.”
“So democracy is really not at stake then. If democracy is really at stake and Trump is the existential threat that they say he is, you should do everything in your power to protect it,” he added.
The supposed stakes were on clear display in a post from Manhattan Institute senior fellow Christopher Rufo who shared images from The New Republic and The Washington Post that likened Trump to Adolf Hitler, something even CNN’s Jake Tapper had done.
“The people who have been pushing this must be held to account,” contended Rufo. “Fired. Blackballed. Ostracized. Stripped of their titles. Pushed into bankruptcy. They should never work in this business again.”

Likewise, as Biden refused to even describe the assassination attempt as what it was at the same time he criticized political violence that some argued he had helped stoke, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott (R) joined the chorus faulting extremists Never Trumpers, “Let’s be clear: This was an assassination attempt aided and abetted by the radical Left and corporate media incessantly calling Trump a threat to democracy, fascists, or worse.”

Today is not just some isolated incident.
The central premise of the Biden campaign is that President Donald Trump is an authoritarian fascist who must be stopped at all costs.
That rhetoric led directly to President Trump’s attempted assassination.
