Ben Shapiro shares brutal thoughts on George Santos’ bizarre ‘Jew-ish’ claims: ‘What he should have said is…’

Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) seems to have an almost pathological need to bend the truth, but his longstanding claim that he has “Jew-ish” heritage because his mom allegedly has Jewish ancestry was enough to make Jewish conservative commentator Ben Shapiro chuckle.

Speaking Wednesday on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” he took aim at the Long Island liar.

“What he should have said is, ‘On the inside, I feel Jewish,'” Shapiro laughed. “I feel so Jewish on the inside, what are you going to do, challenge my feelings?”

Morgan played for Shapiro a clip from an interview he conducted with the lawmaker days earlier.

“I would always say, I was raised Catholic, but I come from a Jewish family, so that makes me Jew-ish,” Santos told Morgan.

When he told that to a group of people in November, Santos said, “people were hysterically laughing.”

“It was funny to them,” Santos insisted. “They loved it.”

According to Morgan, however, not so much.

“The people have already said that were at the event,” Morgan told Shapiro, “they weren’t laughing with them.”

What’s more, the host claimed, there isn’t “any evidence he has any Jewish heritage.”

“He claims his grandparents fled the Holocaust,” Morgan continued. “There seems to be no evidence for that. His parents are both from Brazil.”

Morgan noted that Santos “wasn’t joking” and that he has made the claim “repeatedly.”

“He’s almost the apex predator of politicians at this point,” the Daily Wire founder replied. “He’s reached the logical endpoint of where our politics is going.”

“It is the job of people like you or me,” Shapiro continued, “to call it out when he says things that are not true.”

Santos’s embellishments, he argued, are indicative of a new era.

“I think that we have reached a sort of post-truth era,” he said. “Not in that people don’t pay attention to the truth, but I’m not even sure how many people care about the truth.”

The Daily Mail dug into Santos’s many claims of being “‘Jewish,’ ‘Jew-ish,’ ‘half Jewish,’ ‘a proud American Jew,’ [and] a ‘Latino Jew'” and came up empty, noting, “genealogy searches reveal no family ties to Judaism.”

To Morgan, Santos claimed he wasn’t just Jewish, he had “Ukrainian-Jewish” heritage and would “battle to his grave” anyone who argued the point.

“I have already ordered those DNA test kits,” he said, according to the Daily Mail. “I’ve done four of them and I am so far waiting for the returns which I am very curious to share those with everybody.”

“My grandparents fled from Belgium to Brazil, and faked a lot of documents,” he explained. “It has happened to other people, and they received apology letters. I will be the same story.”

As for claiming to be a Jew-ish Christian, Santos said that was just a joke he’d told his entire life.

“I never claimed to be Jewish,” he said. “It was a party favor joke. I say that my grandparents are Jewish on my mother’s side, and I am Jew-ish.”

This would be the mother he also claimed died in the September 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center.

As BizPac Review previously reported, Santos tweeted in 2021 that “9/11 claimed my mother’s life.”

Five months later, he announced that his mother passed away in December 2016.

“December 23rd this year marks 5 years I lost my best friend and mentor,” he tweeted. “Mom you will live forever in my heart.”
