Biden admin beefed up Secret Service protection for Zelenskyy, denied improved protection for Trump

An “unreal” reminder about how President Joe Biden’s administration prepped for a visiting dignitary added insult to injury amid latest reports on “repeatedly denied requests” for the former president’s security detail.

Ahead of a Monday hearing when U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle was expected to take the hot seat before Congress regarding the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump, it appeared requests from the GOP leader’s team for resources over two years.

Saturday, The Article III Project President Mike Davis juxtaposed that report with a story published in ABC News that showed during that same timeframe, the resident-in-chief pulled out all the stops to protect Eastern Europe’s “greatest salesman,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“The Biden administration beefed up Secret Service protection for President Zelenskyy. And denied beefed up Secret Service protection for President Trump,” wrote Davis over the side-by-side that included the headline from Dec. 21, 2022, “Zelenskyy’s security in Washinton being treated as ‘mini-state visit,’ sources say.”

Having endorsed Trump in the immediate aftermath of the attempt on the Republican nominee’s life, tech entrepreneur Elon Musk reacted to the startling comparison with nothing more than, “!”

As had been reported, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, USSS spokesman Anthony Guglielmi and Cheatle had all adamantly denied any lapse or limitation in providing security for the former president, despite independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy being denied any Secret Service detail until after the tragic attempt on Trump’s life.

The Washington Post had detailed, “The requests, which have not been previously reported, were sometimes denied by senior officials at the agency, who cited various reasons, including a lack of resources at an agency that has long suffered with staffing shortages.”

Meanwhile, Mayorkas had referred to any such claims as “baseless and irresponsible” as he made time to focus on the diversity, equity and inclusion objectives of the agency by decrying critics of women in law enforcement after a number of those assigned to protect Trump in Pennsylvania had raised eyebrows about their behavior that included pausing to put on sunglasses and struggling to holster a sidearm.

Of course, at every opportunity since the war in Ukraine had not been deterred by his “devastating packages of sanctions,” Biden has catered to the financial requests of Zelenskyy to the tune of hundreds of billions of American taxpayer dollars, largely without oversight.

Despite it appearing to be par for the course for an administration investigated for the weaponization of government under a president alleged to be part of an influence-peddling racket, social media users were as astounded as Musk was that it was possible any White House would prioritize a foreign dignitaries safety over that of a former president and nominee for one of the two major parties after it was already reported that First Lady Jill Biden’s security was elevated the same day as Trump’s in the same area.
