There’s pandering for votes during an election year, and then there’s ordering the military into a terrorist-infested warzone to woo college kids and Muslims in Michigan.
To the surprise of no one, President Joe Biden is doing the latter.
During his hate-fueled State of the Union address on Thursday, Biden announced he is sending the U.S. military to build a pier on the Gaza coast so Hamas terrorists can receive humanitarian aid.
“The United States has been leading international efforts to get more humanitarian assistance into Gaza,” Biden told Americans. “Tonight, I’m directing the U.S. military to lead an emergency mission to establish a temporary pier in the Mediterranean on the Gaza coast that can receive large ships carrying food, water, medicine and temporary shelters.”
“No U.S. boots will be on the ground,” he stated. “This temporary pier would enable a massive increase in the amount of humanitarian assistance getting into Gaza every day.”

“He’ll be sending American military forces to the Gaza coast,” Fox News’s Jesse Watters told “Primetime” viewers. “Naval assets, along with hundreds, maybe thousands, of American servicemembers, will be building a floating pier to install as a makeshift port used to deliver humanitarian aid to the Palestinians.”
“This means the American military will be operating on a coastline controlled by Hamas,” Watters said. “Remember, Americans are still being held hostage by Hamas, as President Biden faces a political revolt in heavily Muslim Michigan, even on formerly-friendly college campuses.”

On X, folks aren’t buying the president’s promise of keeping U.S. “boots” off the project.
“You can’t build a pier leading into Gaza without troops on the ground,” one user noted. “He just put us in to this conflict.”
He said US troops wouldn’t be involved? You can’t build a pier leading into Gaza without troops on the ground. He just put us in to this conflict.

Joe Biden: No boots will be on the ground in Gaza. We will build a temporary pier.

Read Joe Biden’s lips – No U.S. boots on the ground in Gaza.

The announcement gave political correspondent Jim Geraghty some familiar, disturbing “vibes.”
“Man, this is giving me 1983 Marine Barracks in Beirut, Lebanon vibes…” he wrote on X.

“Building these is not about snapping your fingers,” said the National Review’s Michael Brendan Dougherty. “This could be a mess real fast. But Biden admin, unable to control Israel, seems intent on taking a massive risk to appease the craziest 5 percent of progressive voters.”

“Not to put too fine a point on it, but Biden can’t please his left wing critics with a port in Gaza,” Dougherty said in a separate post. “They want him to either pressure Israel into a ceasefire or to abandon Israel altogether.”
“Just needs to impress 13% of D voters in Michigan,” replied podcaster Stephen L. Miller.

According to Reuters, the “operation” will be “initially based on the island of Cyprus.”
“Washington will work with European and regional partners and allies to build an international coalition of countries that would contribute capabilities and funds, ” the outlet reports, citing “senior administration officials.”

Naturally, the United Nations is involved.
“We welcome this,” Sigrid Kaag, the U.N. humanitarian and reconstruction coordinator for Gaza, told reporters following a closed-door briefing on Thursday with the U.N. Security Council. “At the same time I cannot but repeat – air and sea is not a substitute for land and nobody says otherwise.”
“Biden’s announcement came as he seeks to cool anger among many in his Democratic Party over his support for Israel in its offensive in Gaza since Oct. 7, given the steep toll on civilians in the Palestinian enclave,” reports Reuters. “Senior administration officials who had briefed reporters on the plan before the speech also said Hamas was delaying a new deal with Israel on a six-week ceasefire and the release of hostages because the Islamists who rule Gaza have not agreed to free sick and elderly captives.”
“So our government will build a seaport in Hamas territory,” wrote Geraghty on X, “but no additions to border fencing, no larger Navy, no liquid natural gas exports, no Keystone XL pipeline…”
