As Americans struggle to cope with soaring inflation, violent crime, and the threat of nuclear war, they can at least be amused by President Joe Biden’s attempt to “settle the score” with the son of former Secretary of State Colin Powell, and hear all about the joys of electric vehicles on a new episode “Jay Leno’s Garage.”
As American Wire reported back in August, the president chose the one-year anniversary of the Kabul airport attack to shoot a whimsical segment with the former late-night talk show host.
Biden’s visit with Jay Leno on anniversary of Kabul airport attack branded ‘tone-deaf and insensitive’ https://t.co/buNtwroiuV

The ill-timed appearance — used to discuss “how electric cars are going to change the nature of our environment” — drew scathing criticism online.
“He is tone deaf and insensitive,” Darin Hoover, father of Taylor, a Marine staff sergeant who was killed on August 26, 2021, told the Daily Mail at the time. “It’s ridiculous”
Months later, and just days ahead of the midterm elections, the episode has aired, and the response has been less than enthusiastic.
Not even a high-speed rematch between Biden and the son of Colin Powell, Michael Powell, could rev up much support.
In 2016, then-Vice President Biden made his first appearance on Leno’s show and raced his 1967 Stingray against Colin Powell and his later model Stingray, beating him.
“I’m frankly here to settle the score,” said Michael, according to the Daily Mail. “For years he was very bitter. He said he had won the race, but it was lost in editing. And he said that if I ever had the chance, I had to make that right.”
The president, 76, reportedly reached speeds of 118 mph while racing around the James J. Rowley Secret Service training facility in Beltsville, Maryland.
In the end, while it was clear that Michael’s 2015, 455 horsepower, V8 engine was “significantly ahead” of the president’s vintage beauty, both parties decided not to declare a victor.
Later, Biden told Leno that he misses being able to drive as president, adding, “Every once in a while, I take the Corvette out of the garage and just run up and down the driveway.”
Because that’s what you do when you are facing the existential threat of climate change.
No worries, Biden was really there to test drive a Ford F-150 electric truck and voice his support for car unions.
“I’m a labor guy and I think organized labor has gotten screwed,” Biden told passenger Leno as he cruised in the politically-correct pickup.
According to Biden, the labor force is thrilled about the money he allocated for EV charging stations in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
“We’re going to put in 500,000 electric charging stations all across America so you can drive across America,” he explained. “So now labor across the board is realizing this is the answer to their financial security and they’re doing something good.”
He called the more than $135 billion the administration has funneled toward the manufacturing of electric vehicles a “game-changer.”
“It’s a game-changer. You got 40 percent of all pollution — all the CO2 going up — is from the tailpipe,” he said. “And imagine if we just changed that.”
And if you’re thinking that all those EVs have to be plugged into an energy grid that is powered by fossil fuels, well, Biden and his administration have that covered.
“We’re going to be in a position where we’re moving toward wind power in this country in a gigantic way,” the president told Leno. “What’s happening is you now have battery capacity that you can have in your basement so when the wind stops blowing the sun stops shining it keeps you going.”
What Biden did not mention was Elon Musk’s Tesla, arguably the most innovative manufacturer of electric vehicles in the world — a fact noted by many users on Twitter.
Did medics manage to fix his condition, the one that prevents him to say the word “Tesla”?

How many times Jay will bring up Tesla in this segment? Any guesses? I say one before Joe switches the topic to Unions.

Can you get him to say the “T” word?

And while Biden claimed the new electric truck was “the new hot rodding,” struggling Americans were quick to point out how tone-deaf the comment was.
“No it’s NOT Joe,” tweeted one user. “Most EVs are not in the budget of the middle class.”
No it's NOT Joe. Most EVs are not in the budget of the middle class.
