President Biden contradicted Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Friday and finally admitted that the U.S. border with Mexico is not, in fact, secure.
Biden had just finished addressing a bipartisan group of mayors in the White House East Room, assuring them that he is ready for “massive changes” to America’s immigration policy when a reporter asked him directly if he believed the border was secure.
“No, it’s not,” the president stated. “I haven’t believed it for the last ten years.”
“And I’ve said it for the last ten years,” he continued. “Give me the money!”
“I’ve asked for thousands more, everything, from judges to, anyway, ” the commander-in-chief muttered.

The remarks come a week after Biden buried himself in backlash for denying to another reporter that there was a crisis at the border.

Speaking to the mayors, Biden said he is “ready to act” on immigration if Republicans are done “weaponizing” the issue to make him look bad.
“My team has been at the table for weeks now with a bipartisan group of senators to negotiate a deal, including border, because I believe we need significant policy changes at the border, including changes in our asylum system to ensure that we have authorities we need to control the border,” Biden said, according to CNN. “And I’m ready to act.”
“I think next week we ought to be able to work out something, at least in the Senate. And I’m hopeful it’s going to be a bipartisan package of senators that are going to pass it, God willing,” he stated. “Now the question for the speaker and the House Republicans: Are they ready to act as well?”
“They have to choose whether they want to solve a problem or keep weaponizing the issue to score political points against the president,” Biden told the mayors. “I’m ready to solve the problem.”

The remarks punctuate what is clearly a shift in the border narrative from the Biden administration — one that is getting an assist from a dutiful press.
Rather than deny what everyone in the world can plainly see, the new message appears to be that immigration has been a problem that has plagued presidents for decades and Biden would fix it, if it weren’t for those pesky conservatives.
“His comments sounded the most optimistic note yet that a breakthrough on immigration – an issue that has nagged at Biden throughout his presidency – could be imminent,” CNN reports. “The issue has plagued Congress and presidents – Democrats and Republicans – for decades.”
Republicans have “gotten in the way when it comes to border security!” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre exclaimed on Wednesday, falsely claiming that GOP lawmakers voted to reduce the number of Border Patrol agents.

Biden’s admission that the border isn’t secure was met with a healthy dose of cynicism.
Must be an election year.

I wonder why his handlers have opted to change the narrative all of a sudden?

“Of course.. he’s down in the polls due to his disastrous open border policy,” reasoned one user. “He doesn’t care about the American people.., it’s all about the votes.”
