Biden fumes about stalled Ukraine cash, suggests Americans will be shipped off to fight Russia

President Joe Biden accused House Republicans on Wednesday of being “willing to give Putin the greatest gift he could hope” and warned that, unless they agree to send billions more of taxpayer money and military assistance to Ukraine, there will be “American troops fighting Russian troops” before the war is over.

Biden issued the ominous warning in a televised address from the White House to discuss the “urgent responsibility that Congress has to uphold the national security needs of the United States and, quite frankly, of our partners as well.”

“This cannot wait,” he stated. “Congress needs to pass supplemental funding for Ukraine before they break for the holiday recess.  It’s as simple as that.”

“Frankly, I think it’s stunning that we’ve gotten to this point in the first place,” he continued. “While Congress — the Republicans in Congress is — are willing to give Putin the greatest gift he could hope for and abandon our global leadership not just to Ukraine, but beyond that.”

The president painted an apocalyptic picture of Ukrainian suffering at the hands of Russian President Vladimir Putin:

We’ve all seen the brutality that Putin has inflicted on Ukraine: invading another country; trying to subjugate his neighbors to his iron rule; committing atrocities — atrocities against Ukrainian civilians; trying to plunge them into the cold and darkness of winter by bombing their electrical grid so they don’t have any heat during the winter, ki- — or electricity, for that matter; kidnapping thousands of Ukrain- — thousands of Ukrainian children from their parents and families and keeping them in Russia.

“Russian forces are committing war crimes,” he declared. “It’s as simple as that. It’s stunning.”

“Who is prepared to walk away from holding Putin accountable for this behavior?” Biden asked. “Who among us is really prepared to do that?”

As the Ukraine-Russia war nears the two-year mark, the president claimed that Ukraine has “denied Russia a victory on the battlefield” and “defeated Vladimir Putin’s ambition to dominate Ukraine.”

In truth, according to a November report from the United Nations, “at least 10,000 [Ukrainian] civilians, including more than 560 children, have been killed and over 18,500 have been injured” since the start of Russia’s invasion on February 24, 2022.

The “actual figure,” the UN said, “may be significantly higher given the challenges and time required for verification.”

It’s a war many, including Tucker Carlson, believe Ukraine cannot possibly win.

“We were told at the beginning that our support would allow Ukraine to beat Russia and keep Russia from invading the rest of Europe or something,” Carlson said during his recent X episode. “Well, almost two years in, none of that has turned out to be true. Ukraine is not going to beat Russia.”

“The only person who’s been beaten in this is the United States,” Carlson said. “The U.S. is weaker — measurably weaker — because of our support for Ukraine in this war. That’s just true. The verdict is in, and honest, rational people admit that no matter what their previous position.”

But Biden insisted he’s “not prepared to walk away.”

“And I don’t think the American people are either,” he said.

“If Putin takes Ukraine, he won’t stop there,” the president predicted. “It’s important to see the long run here. He’s going to keep going.  He’s made that pretty clear.”

And, should the Russian leader do that, American boots will be on the battlefield.

“If Putin attacks a NATO Ally — if he keeps going and then he attacks a NATO Ally — well, we’ve committed as a NATO member that we’d defend every inch of NATO territory,” he explained. “Then we’ll have something that we don’t seek and that we don’t have today: American troops fighting Russian troops — American troops fighting Russian troops if he moves into other parts of NATO.”

“Make no mistake: Today’s vote is going to be long remembered,” he dramatically declared. “And history is going to judge harshly those who turn their back on freedom’s cause.”

“We can’t let Putin win,” he told Americans. “I’ll say it again: We can’t let Putin win. It’s in our overwhelming national interest and international interest of all our friends.”

And Putin wouldn’t stand a chance if it weren’t for those pesky “extreme Republicans and their “partisan” tantrums about the open border that is exposing citizens to drug cartels, human traffickers, and national security risks so high that, according to FBI Director Christopher Wray, he’s “never seen a time where all the threats or so many of the threats are all elevated, all at exactly the same time.”

“Any disruption in our ability to supply Ukraine clearly strengthens Putin’s position. We’ve run out of money to be able to do that, in terms of authorization,” Biden said. “Extreme Republicans are playing chicken with our national security, holding Ukraine’s funding hostage to their extreme partisan border policies.”

“I’ve asked for billions of dollars for more border agents, more immigration judges, more asylum officers,” he said.  “Republicans have to decide if they want a political issue or if they want a solution at the border. Do they really want a solution? It cannot be sustained as it is now.”

Republicans, he stated, must be willing to reach across the aisle.

“Republicans think they can get everything they want without any bipartisan compromise,” he said. “That’s not the answer. That’s not the answer. And now they’re willing to literally kneecap Ukraine on the battlefield and damage our national security in the process.”

“Petty, partisan, angry politics can’t get in the way of our responsibilities as a leading nation in the world,” he said. “And, literally, the entire world is watching. The entire world is watching: What will the United States do?”

“Let’s get this done,” he urged Congress. “We’re the reason Putin has not totally overrun Ukraine and moved beyond that.”

Online, the president’s pleas moved few.

“Our Country is being invaded and Biden wants to send more $ to Ukraine…” wrote one user. “It’s called TREASON.”

“Not another penny for Ukraine,” demanded another.

“You need to shut our border before you BREAK for the holiday,” a third replied. “IT IS AS SIMPLE AS THAT.”
