Not only did President Joe Biden’s latest claim from the G7 Summit in Japan contradict his administration’s previous downplaying of an alliance of nations, it contradicted reality as he seemingly dunked on himself.
The gaffetastic commander-in-chief traveled to Hiroshima, Japan for the multi-day G7 Summit where he was joined by leaders of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and the host nation. In addition, Biden met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to promise more assistance to the country’s war effort.
However, the octogenarian’s faculties came into question when he boasted that he was responsible for the formation of the “Quadrilateral” (Quad), comprised of the United States, Japan, Australia and India.
“I doubt many people in this audience or any other audience would’ve said that two years after being elected, I’d be able to convince India, Australia, Japan and the United States to form an organization called the Quad to maintain stability in the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea,” Biden touted from the stage in Japan, despite the organization being re-established under President Donald Trump.

Meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, Biden’s praise of his record with the Quad countered his administration’s history of placating China as CNN had reported in Sept. 2021 how officials had reinforced the informal nature of the group.
“I do want to underscore that The Quad is an unofficial gathering. Although we have a number of working groups and we are deepening cooperation on a very daily basis, it’s also the case that it is not a regional security organization,” an unnamed official explained.
Of course, that gathering would not have been possible if not for Trump’s administration reviving the Quad in 2017 after its initial formation during President George W. Bush’s administration. As the Brookings Institution had summarized in Oct. 2020 coinciding with a ministerial meeting, the original purpose of the Quad was to deal with the devastating 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami that took an estimated 225,000 lives, with a first working-level meeting in May 2007.
“The countries do not mention China explicitly,” Brookings report stated, “but their words and actions indicate a coalition of the willing and capable that seeks to ensure a favorable balance of power, deter Chinese aggression and other negative behavior, and maintain a rules-based order that they see a rising China challenging through its actions.”
With the facts established, Biden, whose foreign policy prowess had been emphasized throughout his candidacy, looked all the more foolish for the claim that, in and of itself, was wholly accurate because of the false implication. His suggested doubt at the audience was warranted as he had not convinced the nations to form the Quad.
Reactions to the president’s bumbling captured the American public’s frustration with another embarrassing display abroad.
Always taking credit for things he had nothing to do with.

Plagiary. It’s just one of the things he’s good at.
