Minneapolis man involved in fight suffers gruesome death after falling into path of oncoming LRT train

It was just another weekend night in the crime-ridden city of Minneapolis when a man suffered a horrific death after falling from the platform directly into the path of an oncoming light rail train while fighting with another individual.

The incident went down at the Hennepin Avenue/Warehouse District station near 5th Street and 1st Avenue at around 1 a.m. on Saturday morning when the Minneapolis Police Department and other first responders were dispatched to the location where they would discover that a gruesome accident had taken place, medical personnel would pronounce the man dead at the scene, having been run over by a Metro Transit train.

Graphic video of the immediate aftermath of the unfortunate mishap was posted to social media where it has since gone viral. The gut-wrenching footage shows the dead person’s leg protruding from under the blue and yellow train and over the edge of the platform as police arrive, the voices of witnesses describing the terrible scene are heard in the clip.

“MPD Public Information Officer Adam Kennedy said officers reviewed security camera footage to find that two men were fighting on the platform leading up to the incident. One of them fell into the path of an oncoming train and was struck,” according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. “The train stopped for officers to process the scene, but Kennedy said it was running again as of late Saturday morning.”

“We are looking for the other individual who did not fall on the light rail tracks,” Kennedy added, stating that some details cannot be shared due to the ongoing investigation,” the outlet reported.

“According to initial police dispatches, a witness told officers that the victim may have been pushed onto the tracks. The suspect, captured on camera, was described as a medium-build black male wearing a white t-shirt, black pants, red shoes with white bottoms, and with a royal blue blanket around his shoulders. He fled eastbound on the platform,” reported MN Crime, a social media account that monitors crime in the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota “so you don’t have to.”
