Biden touts ‘honorary’ professor gig that paid nearly $1M though he didn’t teach a single class

President Joe Biden is the very epitome of a political system that rewards those able to hang around long enough to cash in on their branding and, to be clear, there is no shame in his game here.

It’s no wonder that Hunter Biden made millions from foreign actors cashing in on his father’s famous name and position — he had a great teacher in the “big guy,” Professor Biden.

While stumping in New Mexico on Thursday, Biden was trying to build himself up by touting his relationship with the president of China when he referenced what was largely an honorary role of being a professor at the University of Pennsylvania — an honorary gig that paid him nearly $1 million even though he didn’t teach a single class.

“I spent more time with Xi Jinping of China than any world leader has. When I was vice president and when I was out of the office for four years and I was a professor, and now president,” Biden said during a speech at the Central New Mexico Community College in Albuquerque.

This coming on the heels of former President Barack Obama saying “don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f*ck things up,” and Obama’s own Defense Secretary Robert Gates warning that Biden “has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past 4 decades.”

The lucrative gig was found to be “honorary” by Snopes in April 2022.

“While Biden held the honorary post, he made about $900,000. He gave roughly a dozen lectures and talks but never taught a full semester’s course. Nor did he conduct any research or have any administrative responsibilities,” Fox News reported.

“At the same time, Biden held the honorary Franklin post, Penn also named him Senior Fellow at the Andrea Mitchell Center for the Study of Democracy,” the network added. “After launching his presidential campaign in April 2019, the university released a statement saying he would be taking an ‘unpaid leave of absence from his work at the Penn Biden Center.'”

This being just one of the reasons Biden has been scarce on the campaign trail ahead of next week’s elections, where Democrats are expected to take a drubbing.

On Tuesday, Biden traveled to Florida to stump for the two Democratic candidates trailing badly in the race for governor and U.S. Senate, and he stumbled and bumbled his way through the effort.

At one point, after U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla. took to the microphone in a desperate attempt to fire up a “sparse” crowd. Biden thanked her by saying, “I don’t have a greater friend in the United States Senate.”

He also repeated the falsehood that his son, Beau Biden, died in Iraq while talking about inflation, boasted about the U.S. having “the lowest inflation rate of almost any major country in the world,” and claimed he met the “inventor” of insulin while taking credit for lowering the cost, never mind that the naturally occurring hormone was discovered in 1921.

But the most bizarre performance was when he suddenly adopted a newfound southern accent to scare Florida’s large senior citizen population that Republicans were going to take away their social security — which is not true.

Suffice it to say, while plenty see Biden as a joke, with all that is at stake it’s hard to laugh… here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:
