Biden welcomes world leaders to Washington, but oops, there’s a slight problem

President Joe Biden may have physically been in attendance at a Manhattan event with world leaders, but he certainly proved he was out to lunch in his remarks.

The 81-year-old Democrat leader welcomed attendees to the InterContinental New York Barclay hotel by forgetting where he was.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you. Welcome to Washington,” he said at the meeting to discuss the Joint Declaration of Support for Ukrainian Recovery and Reconstruction.

Biden evidently did not realize his gaffe and went right ahead with his speech which came after Tuesday’s address to the United Nations General Assembly in the same city.

“Fellow leaders, friends, for 944 days [Russian President Vladimir} Putin has waged his vicious onslaught against Ukraine,” he said.

While anyone else could have made the simple error, one can lose count of Biden’s record on embarrassing moments.

His speech on Wednesday was followed by remarks from Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whom Biden had introduced as “President Putin” at the annual NATO summit in July.

Biden also appeared to be confused over the weekend as he held a press conference with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Wilmington, Delaware.

“I want to thank you all for being here,” Biden said at the end of his remarks.

“Now, who am I introducing next?” he asked instead of introducing his guest. “Who’s next?”

His gaffe in New York City did not go unnoticed and social media users were quick to react.

“He’s sharp as a tack behind closed doors. Staff can’t keep up with him because he’s too quick and works too hard,” mocked OutKick writer Ian Miller in a post on X.

“Remember, Joe Scarborough said Biden was sharper today than he was 20 years ago… which explains why our country is in the shape it’s in,” New Yorker and commentator Ryan James Girdusky wrote.
