Biden’s dismissed ‘disinformation czar’ Nina Jankowicz now registered as a foreign agent

Nina Jankowicz, the Orwellian Mary Poppins and one-time would-be “disinformation czar” for the Biden administration, has dusted off her jazz hands and is now officially registered as a foreign agent, government records show.

Jankowicz rose to notoriety as the appointed face of the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Disinformation Governance Board — dubbed the “Ministry of Truth” by critics — when video emerged of her singing a little ditty about the virtues of censorship.

The backlash was so fierce, the DHS promptly hit pause on the entire show, and just three weeks after the board was announced, Jankowicz resigned as its executive director — but not before many pointed out that she was, in fact, the source of a lot of the “disinformation” plaguing Americans.

As BizPac Review reported at the time, Jankowicz helped spread the “Trump-Russia Collusion” hoax and the notion that Hunter Biden’s laptop was “Russian disinformation” prior to the 2016 election.

She also criticized those who dared to claim that COVID-19 originated in a Wuhan lab — a narrative that earned her a nod from China Daily, the Chinese Communist Party’s propaganda outlet.

She has since taken her questionable skills to the Centre for Information Resilience (CIR), a British organization which, according to its website, is “an independent, non-profit social enterprise dedicated to countering disinformation, exposing human rights abuses, and combating online behaviour harmful to women and minorities.”

“We are delighted to announce disinformation expert Nina Jankowicz (@wiczipedia) has joined CIR,” the group tweeted in September. “Nina will help lead our efforts in countering hostile state efforts to distort the information space. She’ll also be launching the Hypatia Project.”

“The project will equip targets of abuse with the tools they need to stay safe & hold their digital ground,” CIR explained. “We will advocate for private & public sector policy solutions to make the internet safer & more civil for everyone.”

To that end, Jankowicz has registered as a foreign representative under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) on behalf of CIR.

Again, in the organization’s own words, CIR “conducts research and analysis that identifies malign influence operations on social media and traditional platforms.”

“We profile techniques and narratives used. We collect evidence enabling attribution to state or non-state actors,” CIR brags. “CIR assists governments and civil society to design and implement countermeasures. We collaborate with international and local media to expose disinformation and strengthen public resilience.”

CIR was founded by Ross Burley, a former British Foreign Office employee and current “Civilian Deployable Expert” in Whitehall’s Stabilisation Unit, in June 2020, according to MRonline.

It seems, across the Pond, they aren’t big fans of Jankowicz, either.

“Burley has also played a pivotal role in supporting the career of perhaps the most infamous character to emerge from the novel counter-disinformation industry,” the outlet reported. “Nina Jankowicz, the disgraced former director of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Disinformation Governance Board once sat on the advisory board of Burley’s Centre for Information Resilience, and was or still is an advisor to his shadowy OIP [Open Information Partnership]. An official financial disclosure form indicates Jankowicz received thousands of dollars from both entities in 2021.”

“That Burley remains tied to the Stabilisation Unit today raises the obvious question of whether his Centre is, in fact, a British government cutout, conducting info-war operations at arm’s length from the state,” MRonline states.
