Biden’s statement on four dead, 28 injured at Sweet 16 birthday party mass shooting in Alabama

Another mass shooting took place over the weekend, claiming the lives of four people at a Sweet 16 birthday party in Alabama, a tragic incident that Democrats pounced on to push for harsh new restrictions on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners.

The bloodbath took place at the Mahogany Masterpiece dance studio when a shooting broke out around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday night while partygoers celebrated, resulting in four dead and another 28 injured and leaving residents of the small town of Dadeville where the incident took place shaken and grieving for the victims whose young lives were cut short by a hail of bullets.

While authorities are still investigating the incident and what caused the violence to erupt, the young victims of the carnage have been identified including 18-year-old Phil Dowdell, a high school senior and talented athlete who was set to attend Jackson State on a football scholarship after graduation. The party was for his younger sister, according to reports.

“He was a very, very humble child. Never messed with anybody. Always had a smile on his face,” Dowdell’s grandmother Annette Allen said of her slain loved one, calling his grin  “a million-dollar smile.”

As is typical with mass shootings, the political left quickly moved to exploit the tragedy in order to push their relentless assault on the Second Amendment with President Joe Biden once again leading the way by bashing congressional Republicans for not falling in line on new gun restrictions, including an assault weapons ban.

“What has our nation come to when children cannot attend a birthday party without fear? When parents have to worry every time their kids walk out the door to school, to the movie theater, or to the park?” Biden said in a statement.

‘This is outrageous and unacceptable. Americans agree and want lawmakers to act on commonsense gun safety reforms,” the divider-in-chief added. “Instead, this past week Americans saw national Republican elected leaders stand alongside the NRA in a race to the bottom on dangerous laws that further erode gun safety. Our communities need and deserve better.”

“This is going to be a long, complicated process,” said Sergeant Jeremy Burkett of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) of the police investigation into what happened and why.

Burkett described the situation as “very fluid,” and said that continuous updates are coming to the department throughout the day as police work to confirm the identities of everyone who was at the party and why they were there.

The birthday party shooting took place on the same day that another incident in Louisville, Kentucky claimed the lives of two people after shots were fired into a crowd at Chickasaw Park.

Louisville was also the site where a mentally troubled shooter murdered five people at the Old National Bank where he worked last Monday, a shocking explosion of violence that is just one more example of America’s ongoing national health crisis which gets no attention from Democrat political leaders and their media mouthpieces who, instead of addressing the root cause of the carnage, relentlessly push their agenda to disarm the populace.

“I stand ready, as I always have been, to work across the aisle in good faith on federal legislation that will save lives. It is within Congress’ power to require safe storage of firearms, require background checks for all gun sales, eliminate gun manufacturers’ immunity from liability, and ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines – and this should happen without delay,” Biden said in his statement.
