Biden’s telling reaction to reporters desperate for statement on special counsel appointment

In the wake of Attorney General Merrick Garland’s controversial appointment of US Attorney David Weiss as the special counsel overseeing the probe into Hunter Biden’s corruption, President Joe Biden left the White House on Friday bound for Delaware, where he has spent nearly 40% of his presidency.

New York Post reporter Steven Nelson was on hand, filming as the president trudged past a group of shouting reporters toward Marine One.

“Why did you interact with so many of your son’s business partners, President Biden?” the reporter yelled. “Will you hand over your bank records? Do you expect to be impeached, President Biden?”

True to form, the president, wearing his “Dark Brandon” glasses — and, evidently, a grin — completely ignored the press and kept on shuffling.

As BizPac Review reported, Garland’s choice of Weiss as special counsel has sparked screams of a “cover-up” among many conservatives.

Weiss, who was already overseeing the Hunter Biden probe and requested to be appointed special counsel on Tuesday, will be in charge of the “ongoing investigation” of Hunter Biden “as well as for any other matters that arose or may arise from that investigation,” according to the Justice Department.

According to Garland, the appointment “reinforces for the American people the Department’s commitment to both independence and accountability in particularly sensitive matters.”

“The move was announced shortly before prosecutors from Weiss’s team revealed in a court filing the plea talks over tax and gun charges against the president’s son had broken down and the case would likely have to go to trial in California or Washington, D.C.,” NBC News reported. “Hunter Biden agreed to plead guilty to misdemeanor charges related to his failure to pay income taxes earlier this year. But while standing in court last month waiting to enter the plea, the agreement fell apart over confusion about a separate gun charge.”

After prosecutors and Hunter’s legal team “reached an impasse,” prosecutors declared in their Friday filing, “A trial is therefore in order.”

According to Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), chair of the House Judiciary Committee, “Something’s not right,” with Weiss’s appointment.

“First, David Weiss said he didn’t have the power he needed and wanted special counsel status. Then, he said he had all the power he needs,” Jordan posted on X. “Now, he gets special counsel status because he didn’t really have the power he needs?”

Many share the sentiment:

In ignoring the press and fleeing the White House, Biden has been labeled by some as a “coward.”

But, as RealClear Investigation Editor at Large Benjamin Weingarten on X put it, “It’s good to be The Big Guy.”
