Big players call for Musk to move Twitter out of deep blue state to red state Florida

Elon Musk is getting plenty of requests and advice since his purchase of Twitter and among them are overtures by some politicians for him to move the company’s headquarters.

Florida’s Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis had reached out to the Tesla CEO on Twitter, inviting him to take the social media company out of California and move to “the Free State of Florida.” He doubled down on his pitch in the following days and the mayor of one northern Florida city backed the idea.

“Hey ⁦@elonmusk⁩, this is what Team ⁦@Twitter⁩ could see ever evening if your HQ was in the Free State of Florida,” the State Fire Marshal and former member of the Florida House of Representatives tweeted, adding the hashtag #FloridaIsFor Winners.

The mayor of Jacksonville, Florida echoed the sentiment, telling the billionaire, “come on, Elon,” according to WFOX-TV.

“I think it would be a great landing spot,” Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry said Thursday. “FIN-tech is huge in Jacksonville. We’re really on the map of a lot of companies representing a lot of employees. A lot of access to talent in the area. So again, come on Elon.”

Musk moved his Tesla company from San Francisco, California to Austin, Texas in 2021 but has so far, not indicated that he will be moving Twitter.

But that has not stopped many from extending invitations, getting Patronis to amp up his pitch.

“I think it would be a smart decision for him both in a business, but also in a philosophical-wise. You know, all we want to do is see companies prosper,” Patronis told WFOX-TV.

Meanwhile, Curry had reached out to Musk on Twitter with his invitation to Jacksonville. responding to a tweet the SpaceX CEO had written in Latin.

“Visita nos et mane,” the mayor tweeted, which is Latin for “visit and stay.”

In a follow-up tweet, Curry introduced himself to Musk and said he agreed with Patronis about a new home for Twitter in the Sunshine State.

It remains to be seen if the billionaire will be responding to Curry’s request to “call me please.”
